HI everyone
For anyone that has followed my restoration by GT One over the last year I am happy to report that finally after a year of work I finally have my car back. Attached is a link to Photobucket and the finished item. If you are considering a restoration, my advice is don't cut corners but it is essential to keep a firm hold on the purse strings when restoring a 25 year old daily driver because it's easy to get carried away and say yes to everything and the condition under the skin may surprise you. Often there is a compromise or a good alternative but if you want a full restoration such as I did with only a few compromises you had better have a stout constitution and deep pockets. I must say that things turned out well and I am over the moon with the result. Rebuilding the AC at the final stage was in my opinion a worthwhile exercise even if it meant replacing virtually every component and some of the pipework. Now that it works it's great to have it. Next up is the engine rebuild which will have to be later this year, probably a Xmas present. If anyone is considering a rebuild you could do a lot worse than GT One in Chertsey. I had a lot of estimates, many were similar but just keep in mind that an estimate is exactly that, just an estimate. GT One project managed my job really professionally and kept an eye on the budget almost as well as I did with lots of discussion at every stage. Now all we need is the weather. I think for the next few weeks my car may become a garage queen until I get used to the idea of driving in traffic every day again. I will post more pictures when I get time. If anyone would like any information or insight into the process let me know.
