964rsdatabase.com - Now online

Reminds me George, of when I first test drove my car.Initially I thought the same...was trying to drive slowly and smoothly along a tight country lane, thinking what's so special about this...is this the car for me? ( I had a 993 C2 at the time)...Anyway I thought sod it and bought it ( I am very compulsive! ). The first "buzz" for me was when I collected the car and drove it home, all to myself. The car blew me away with it's lightness.it's agillity and it's "hardcord" feel. The best part however, was when my wife drove it...She hated it!...oh well, she won't be borrowing this one then![;)]
Can see yours is RHD George. Surely must be worlds only RHD Cassis RS.Looks STUNNING!!! [:)]

Cassis, lovely.

Yes, it was the very light flywheel, diminutive size and quick linear responses that did it for me --- well, that and the brakes, the intimacy of the car, the sweetness with which it encourages you when you start stringing it all together nicely --- and then it sucks you in, and you are really flying !!

Rich, thanks - I am considering the Silverstone visit on the Fri / Sat, I am in Ireland so its mad - but i would'nt rule it out. I will let you know if thats OK.

A word of thanks to the two group's of people reading, first for the nice comments from those who find cassis red attractive, and second to the silent group who are not so sure.
Basically, if its an 964 RS I like it.

I'll admit that if I am unfortunate enough to be asked what colour it is - I struggle a bit, "Cassis red metalic, Cassis is german for blackberry I understand". I try to avoid "metallic pink guv".

I wonder what the top 6 Colours are for the RS on the Forum?
I would list mine excluding Cassis:
Viper Green[:)][:)][:)]
Maritime Blue
Rubystone
Amethyst met
White
Silver

Coral red metallic isn't any easier --- a rich metallic bromn when overcast becoming a coral --- almost salmon pink with ac lear blue sky.

It's even on an MOT certificate as Copper !

My favourite colours --- well, I did buy the Coral car because of it's colour --- sad but true.

Mint Green, Maritime Blue, Signal Green (Viper ?), then it becomes car specific !

Chris,
I too think the Coral Red looks stunning, - especially with a field of yellow flowering rape behind it[:)], I guess I ommitted it due to it not being a mainstream colour.

Any chance of getting it to silverstone ?

I'll bring the Coral car if you'll bring the Cassis ? ! I don't recall Cassis being a main stream colour ...

Both followed by Red Metallic !!

Absolutely, bring the unusual colours along. Let's have a great display again.
Info in the Silverstone thread at the top of the 964RS forum.

on the interesting colours / special orders front, mine is Lemon Yellow (not as many think, light or pastel) When i purchased the car from Thomas he even quoted it as light yellow. However the factory has given me a print out that confirms Lemon Yellow and L998 colour to sample in the owners manual.

It was a pleasure to meet you at last Martin at Donington. Next pedalling session is at Croft!

Martin, your knowledge on the RS and your efforts with the database have elevated you to legendary status! [:)] I look farward to meeting up again Martin at a track day in the near future.

Regards, Matt.

Just a quickie to let everyone know that the new 'Classified' section of my website is now complete and running (including the spelling mistake before i'm bombarded with emails[:D]). Any owner who has a car registered on the database with a full house of ticks (including those with a cross for the reg number if the car has never been road registered) can advertise any 964 RS related items, whether buying or selling, free of charge.

Just email me details and relevent photo (if needed) and i will create an ad for you.

Database now up to 390 cars with 2 more to add tonight. Please keep them coming.

Regards
Martin

And 51 of the 74? RHD Lightweights ?? Worldwide ...

How many have now been scrapped ?

P.S. How did Walter spec his car ? 18" wheels and ?

That's right, Chris. 51 RHD cars on the database. I know of only 1 so far that has been written off and the chassis number not re-used (apparently). You never know, might come across that number on my travels!

Would love to hit 450 cars registered by the end of the year but it is already getting harder and harder to locate new numbers. Surprising how many cars travel around Europe and further afield from dealer to dealer.

Still receiving emails from owners around the globe. I always find the Nurburgring a great place to find elusive RSs with owners very willing to chat about their cars.

I wasn't aware that Mr Rohrl had had his car from new. Can anybody elaborate further?

Regards
Martin

He bought it in September 2006 and had it set up by none other than Roland Kaussmaul!

Black with orange wing mirrors and Carrera script and Speedlines with orange centres!

Martin, I was working on the basis that he would have his choice of wheels --- and wondered what the rest of the spec might be ?

Still looking and learning !!

Thanks Paul. I have a photo of him standing next to his car. It is on my website in the Gallery. From memory it is number 38.

Martin,

If you ever find any info on VINs of Cups versus Race History I would be interested.

My Cup is 2 short of Hartwegs and raced in the 92 and 93 French Cup and 94 Carglass series.

His was driven by Walter at the ring and was car no. 45 in the 91 race.

thanks,
Charles
