Hi All,

As newcomers to the joys of the 993 we have approached Maurice and Christian with a view to organising a 993 register 2/3 day tour in the SW sometime in September. As Assistant 997 register secretary I have a fair bit of experience in these things, as you may have noticed if you ever dip into matters concerning the 997. Our plans would be much along the lines of the 997 season opener in the South West

Broadly it would consist of
Meet up Friday evening at the hotel (possibly on the N Devon coast area)
Meal at Hotel
Saturday - a scenic drive through Devon/Cornwall returning to the hotel in time for tea followed by a "Gala" dinner with one of my (in)famous quizzes. (Well, they are on the 997 register!)
Sunday - a shorter drive finishing near the M5 around lunchtime so you can head off in good time after refreshments/lunch

The hotel I am looking at would come in at around £100 per ROOM per night for a couple and that is a Dinner, Bed and Breakfast rate.

At this stage I would just like to discover the level of interest. (The 997 event is usually "sold out" within hours of coming on here!) We would need around a minimum of 6 cars/couples up to a maximum of 12 to make it viable.

I would be great to see a good number of 993 out on the road together and also give us an opportunity to meet up with some of you like-minded folk.

If this is the kind of event you would like to take part in then send me a PM, post on this thread or let me have a e-mail. If we get the level of interest needed then I will press on with the organising.

Alan

Alan, I have always looked on with envy at your 997 events and wished "if only for 993" so this is great but of course it is a bit of a trek from Scotland! Other half is not yet convinced we should drive all the way to Devon for this, but I'm working on her. . . Mark

Mark, You could always add on a few days before or after and make a nice break out of it! Keep working on SWMBO!

Very interested and possibly available to go on this. September was nice and free but unfortunately Porsche have just moved Rennsport Reunion V forward two weeks so it now falls in September. Ian.

Cheers Ian. I think we'll be looking at 11/12/13 or 18/19/20 so shouldn't clash with the Rennsport reunion? Not too far for you to come either!

That sounds good Scott! Or a 996 tour now that I have one as well :)

ORIGINAL: lauris I think a 993/964 (air cooled meeting ) could be fun - maybe drag out some of the cars we dont normally see ? loving the 993 (always missed the last one)

Hi, I would be interested in this. It would be great to meet up with other 993 enthusiasts and have been fancying a trip to the South West. But, I could also help if you wanted to do somethng in Peak District which I know well as I live in Sheffield Simon

Just bumping this up to see if there is any more interest as, if we are going to do this, I will need to start making plans. It will appear in the next PP (hopefully, if Christian's done his stuff!) and maybe I'll get some response from that quarter. We could run with 6 but I'd like to get nearer to 12.

Hi again. BTW I am not +1. If you end up over subscribed I can give up my accomodation being local and still attend the drive/dinner. I am not going to Rennsport now with the date change but I will be in Angouleme for the Circuit de Remparts 16 through 22 September instead. Ian.

Thanks Ian, amended. That weekend could well be the one but will depend to some extent on hotel availability. To all - I will e mail round all interested parties mid March after the next Porsche Post has had time to be read! I will, in the meantime, contact the hotel and check dates/prices etc. Then, if we still have the numbers, I'll send out the details.

I would be interested in this 993 tour, subject to confirmation of the dates. 11/12/13 will clash with Goodwood Revival which might be relevant for some? Look forward to hearing more. Regards,

Thanks Nick. I think we're leaning towards 18/19/20 to avoid a Goodwood clash. Have changed your status to Club Member, btw.[:)]

I e-mailed out to all those in the list above the other day but have only heard back from two of you. Also my piece in PP hasn't generated any more interest, disappointingly. If you are still interested could you let me know asap (apart from Charles and Simon who have replied) because the hotel will hold the rooms for another few weeks only before they start releasing them. Ta!
