993 Autumn Tour - PROPOSED LOCATION CHANGE!!

Apologies for slow response. I may now be away on business on suggested dates so doubtful I am afraid. I still love the idea of a 993 tour though!

To date we only have 4, including ourselves, indicating as still interested in this event, the others being Charles M, John Goodacre and Simon P.. As I've mentioned before we need 6 cars minimum to make it both viable and worth my effort to organise. So, at present, it's a non starter chaps which is rather disappointing with well over 700 members on the register! Hey ho!

Oh that's disappointing. May be just too far for people to travel? Would be good to meet up anyway? Simon

Distance doesn't seem to stop the 997 brigade, Simon! (I've changed your status to PCGB member, btw!) If we could get the numbers I'm happy to look at somewhere further north. Cotswolds area maybe? Anyone else interested if I organised an event in that area instead?

Oh thanks! I'm interested that you have both a 993 and a 997 T . Am also thinking of going down this route by buying a 997, but need a good excuse to do so !

Wasn't the distance for me... Just couldn't get kiddy cover that weekend. Still interested, and the hotel and location looked great, and would be interested in a cotswold weekend too...but sadly not that weekend T

I would suspect the distance IS the problem. Many people are on limited mileages and for anyone N. of Watford it is a significant slice of the available mileage to get down to the SW. Arguably Peak District or Cotswolds would have generated more takers. Always easy to comment in hindsight however. Andrew

As the one prepared to put myself out and organise an event it would be nice to get feedback rather than little or no response. If members like the idea of a register driving event but don't want to drive to Devon to do it, then say so. I take the lack of comment indicative of no interest rather than distance being the issue. I'm open to all suggestions.

That's a real disappointment Alan - a run like this announced to the 997 or 991 brigade and all the slots would have been taken in 48 hours. Having been on many of your runs 993 owners are missing a real treat.

Alan Once again many thanks for trying to organise this event. As I live on the edge of the Cotswolds, a tour around the pretty villages with accommodation wouldn't be my first choice but Sarah and I are still up for Devon or the Peak District. I'm surprised there haven't beeen more takers. Cheers, John

Many thanks for taking the time to try and pull the trip together. For me September is just to far in advance to commit to because of the way my business functions. And, I suppose having to drive circa 1000 motorway miles for the trip is not particularly appealing. Are the roads in Devon worth making that effort for? I'm fortunate enough to have some of our countries best driving roads on my door step... I'll look out for any date or location changes and let you know if I'm able to attend - but as I said it would have to be nearer to the time. Good luck and best wishes, Ossie

Hi Alan A 993 event in the Cotswolds or Peak District would be great, just Cornwall or Devon is a heck of a trek from Cheshire in an 18 tear old car ; compared to the luxury of my 991! Graham

Ok chaps, thanks for those replies. Still not enough to make it work BUT if I said I will organise said tour in the Cotswolds areawho would be definitely up for it? Let's start a new list here and if I get 6 definites or more I'll give it a go. Tscaptain +1 Charles Marsland + 1 Graham M +1

Yes Please Charles & Anne Marsland, any time any where, Not worried about how many miles or how dirty or if i have devalued it by Bourn to run. Am i the last enthusiast

ORIGINAL: lauris I think a 993/964 (air cooled meeting ) could be fun - maybe drag out some of the cars we dont normally see ? loving the 993 (always missed the last one)
ORIGINAL: Mark Elder Alan, I have always looked on with envy at your 997 events and wished "if only for 993" so this is great but of course it is a bit of a trek from Scotland! Other half is not yet convinced we should drive all the way to Devon for this, but I'm working on her. . . Mark
what we need mark is a scottish 993 tour ! lol, now that i have one in the stable as well :)
That sounds good Scott! Or a 996 tour now that I have one as well :)
It is a +1 for a meet up in Scotland, even something in the Yorkshire area as I can mix it in with a visit to family in Beverley

Hi I am still up for this but I think we need to nail down a location that will work for TS Captain since it was your initiative that got this going in the first place. I think that means the Cotswolds. If we can get this going then we could try Scotland or I could fix something for Peak District next year? S
