993 Purchase

Unfortunately not this time. I live further north, so due to my diary being so full at the mo' I had to take it elsewhere so I could collect it before I go into hospital for an op [&:]. Otherwise I probably wouldn't have been able to collect until Christmas! Which wouldn't have been fair on them regarding storage "" but known them they would have gladly obliged.

Although I will have to get someone to take it there in the next month or so to have its pre MOT check and MOT done.

Probably pretty slim - I think [8|] Although I have seen a few in and around the town and surrounding villages

So whats your 993?

I saw your comment about the warranty company being the same as used by OPC's. That may very well be the case, but individual dealers can set the terms of the warranty and hense the cost. If you can upgrade the warranty it's likely to be money well spent, £2k does not go very far with these cars. If your not getting an inspection before delivery, I would get one soon after to identify any problems that you can raise straight away with the dealer. Some dealers take a flyer on known problems with cars and only fix it if the customer picks it up straight away.

I noticed the comments about the air con, it's a bit of an issue on 993's, it's very complicated and parts do fail. On my car sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. If your buying a cab, why worry about the air con.

Has the car got the optional squeaky windscreen ? it's a very common problem and tricky to fix but you can live with it.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the advice, I certainly am planning on upgrading the warranty for what seems like a reasonable £200 and the other advice re inspection are spot on.

The point re aircon is that they do seem very hit and miss but being a cab - shoudn't be a major problem. The car on test drive hasnt got the creaky windscreen but instead had a creak between the dashboard and passenger door that may get on my nerves - but hopefully the sound of that aircooled engine that I have thought about for years will help..

Cheers
Chris

Welcome to the wonderful world of 911 ownership buddy, you've certainly earned it, what with having to sit in a sea of Hyundais for the last 3 years or however long it's been.

Chuck the stereo; you won't need it. Then update your avatar [8D]
