Moderator

After requests from various members for a register concours and the feeling that we are unable to compete fairly with the other models from from Porsche, we have decided to hold our own concours event alongside of the professionals [:)]

Its hoped that various special catagories will be open to register members from those that want to take part fully and those that wish to appreciate each others cars at a social event and turn up in a clean car- its hoped we can find entry levels for all.
Added to this there is a full days motorsport alongside of this event, so plenty for everyone to see during the day..

As always with our events plans are under way to add something extra over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Castle Coombe is easy reach within the M4 and M5 so ideally situated to the largest area/concentration of owners.
All details on how to enter are below, and please remember that you will need to book your tickets in advance ot get the half price offer of only £7.50

So, come on guys and girls, get your cleaning cloths at the ready and enter.... the worst that can happen is I beat you in my filthy monster [;)] (which we know is never going to happen)

Club shop will be in attendance on our stand with lots of goodies, as well as other trade stands.

The Castle Combe web site is having problems so the link provided may not work.
This one does: http://www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk/events/display_event.asp?EventID=164

Hi Gary, I'm up for that. But with just 400 miles on the clock, I will have to work very very hard to gain any points. But I will win [:D]

EDIT: The thread has been cleaned up to keep it on topic.
But to add that I have been informed that Derek does already have competition and the point scoring setup already balances the low mileage issues [;)]

We have quite a few attending but we really could do with a few more cars entering, I have forms to look over and need to decide what level we run this at, so come on all those that have asked for a concours, get your entries in.

Unfortunately unlike me where we can leave things to last minute, this does need to be organised in advance.

Still looking for support of the event, plenty of people booking in for the racing ..
News should be in the next Porsche Post, where we hope the polishers will see the event [:D]

UPDATE:

To confirm that we will be having the Concours Judging at this event based on Pride of ownership.
This will allow both standard and modified cars to be judged fairly side by side, it will also allow cars that have covered some miles (like mine) to have fair competition with brand new cars [:)] (Yep, like Dereks).

If you are interested, I have the judging forms available as an email, should you wish to have a go at entering the event and wish to see how the cars will be marked.

Oh go on then, put me down on the list**

Better not bloomin' rain though, and I'm not fixing any front spoiler scrapes or stone chips so a clean is all that she will be receiving.

** that is if I haven't succumbed by then to the white LP560-4 Spyder I have my eye on right now sitting in my local Lambo dealership. I am already negotiating with the salesmen. The dark side of the force is strong with that one...

I personally thought you'd want a quicker car [;)]

garyw

Yeh me too. But when I fitted a PSE to my old Carrera it slowed me down as the 'experience' became more involved at lower speeds. Yes the Lambo is slower but my license may last longer as that sound it produces is just. ahhhh (I followed one the other day in my Turbo).

Nick who just sold his Martini stripped 700BHP Turbo has just moved to a Lambo, saying that the the Turbo was just too fast for public roads (got him in some trouble with the law shall we say) and he wanted something as dramatic but with less potential driver consequences...

Maybe I should just save myself a fortune though and drive along with the windows/sunroof down listening to the exhaust I have now....

To quote Groucho Marx "I only want to belong to a club that wouldn't have me as a member" -we all want what we don't have.

I clearly want a turbo until I have one then after a while I'll tinker with it and then I'll want something else as well - all of course assuming one can afford it. And part of wanting it is its just that bit more expensive. whatever it is.

Seriously though - I love the Lambo but its not a daily driver - the running costs make a Porsche's look like a Lada's. New clutch on e-gear roughly every 4-6k miles.......... £3k a pop, tyres, servicing every 6k miles at 2k a pop, more for the major service........Evo ran a Gayardo as a daily driver and did regular updates on what it cost to run.[]

Not to mention those scary pictures of some "hot" ones on Top Gear!

I have already purchased my reduced price ticket and emailed Harriet to advise that I will make up the numbers for the concour. Is that all I need to do apart from wash my car again this year?

I have my tickets too [:D]

A full days racing alongside the Concours, so looking forward to it..

Daily driver? My Turbo isn't a daily driver. Servicing costs are indeed a concern though. However: http://www.rennteam.com/forum/thread/20111686/Popped_down_to_the_local_LamboAston_dealerships_PICS/page1.html

Entry forms, rules and regulations and a copy of the judging sheet are available from both Gary and myself, so please email one of us [:)]

Harriet

Hopefully everyone has received their forms, if not then please do let me know.

We are keeping this open for entries for only another week, so roll up, roll up [8D]

I've tidied this thread just to save any confusion.
I asked that the entries be held open until the 8th to allow readers of the Porsche Post to see the event advertised and give them the time to enter.

The entries close on the 8th of this month- this weekend.
Mirror hangers will then be sent out to those entered into our concour to give them access to the concours area (race tickets still need to be purchased)

We now have our Judges- James Kirk and myself [:D] or is that a [&:]
I'm even going to go and buy some white gloves [;)]
