997 Register Concours 31/08/09

Just a reminder guys, for anyone interested in attending this event for the motor racing or to watch the concours, this is the last week the half price tickets are available... so get them whilst you can..

If anyone has a large truck, would they help me cart away all my prizes from the Concours? [:D] Now that I have done 400 miles I doubt if I will be penalised at all.

I picked up a LOT more stone chips and stuck tar on the wheels since the Peaks run [:-]

So I think I will just be washing my car as normal for the concours, and coming just for a fun day out. I will have to rely on the originality sections to get higher marks to compensate for the chips/scrapes/dirt.

Geoff, Part of the thinking for having our own event- the policy does seem to punish the 997 in these events..
Even more so when RO's say they will not be allowing 997 owners to enter!! yet its Okay to trailer other cars to events??

Anyway... Judging starts at 11am sharp (well shapes actually at 11.10am [;)])

We would also like to welcome our third Judge of Paul Seagrave who has judged the West mids concours and is also modern Porsche owner [:)]

Looking at the race times, I see there's a Porsche versus Ferrari competition during the day [8D] ( hope it doesn't end up like Lemans 09!!)

In our opinion, no owner or model of Porsche should be excluded from entering concours providing they are a fully paid up member of PCGB.

It must, however, be remembered that it is difficult to find fault with a car that has come straight "out of the box" compared with older and used models. To this end Age and Mileage points have been implemented as well minimum mileage to bring parity to the competitions that we in particular run and have run at national level.

With regard to bringing cars to concours events on trailers, this has been allowed in the Premier class. The Pride of Ownership class (which used to be called Street), however, this is not allowed. BUT one can never stop a competitor bringing his car on a trailer and stopping a few miles down the road, unloading it and then driving it to the event. In the past for national concours competitors were asked to sign in at their local OPC have a card stamped with the recorded mileage and then drive to the event and then have their mileage checked on arrival.

A little reminder if your looking for somewhere to go this Bank Holiday.. were at Castle Combe with our Register concours and plenty of motor racing.
Don't worry if you don't see my motor as I've been informed that it probably won't be ready in time [:'(]

However I'm making a long weekend of it stopping over in Bath- which wins me the browny points to attend the event [;)]
Hopefully see plenty of you there on Monday..
The weather looks promising at this time [:D][:D]

Can't seem to find a dog sitter for Monday, so was thinking about bringing the dog down in the Audi. Do you think dogs are allowed at Castle Combe and if so is that going to be a problem with the concours or watching the racing do you think? Ie how dog friendly do you think the day will be?

Definitely not. Dogs are not allowed at UK racetracks. (If you've got your tickets it says Guide Dogs only.)

Well the weather man has reported that Monday looks like its going to be a nice day :p
Hope to catch up with the members during the day and enjoy the concours and watch some racing...
If your thinking about going, don't forget Paul has some tickets available (on this thread) being as he cannot make the day.[:(]

Concours starts at 11am, so you'll find me in the vicinity at that time.. - I'll be the one in the marigolds [;)]

I have entered the Concours and have just noticed that I need to have covered 3000 miles by Monday. Now as I have only done 350, I need to take a roundabout route, say via Istanbul! Hope I don't pick up too much dirt on the way.

How old is it - 6 weeks? 52/6 x 350 = 3033.
So on a pro rata basis you'll qualify. Just.
Bet they haven't had to work that one out too often.

Actually, as I never reach 3000 miles, I'll never qualify.

Mind you Harriet states 'In our opinion, no owner or model of Porsche should be excluded from entering concours providing they are a fully paid up member of PCGB. so as I am a fully paid up member, I should be able to enter with just 3 miles on the clock.

Harriet... does this mean that Honoury Members cannot enter as they have not paid any subscription [:D]
