Once the speculators bale out and the genuine customers in the queue without the readdies dissappear, you can knock a few months off of that.ORIGINAL: YvesD
I must be well down the preferential pecking order as the OPC have told me 14-18 months lead from deposit day ( 28th Feb ).

You are probably right there.
I was all ready to place a deposit on one come monday but having just had some projected trade in figures on the C2S from the OPC I'm not so sure. The high initial purchase price on the TT is one thing but the savage depreciation on the current motor is quite another.
Apparently an immaculate example, heavily specced ( mine is ) with less than 10k on the clock will be worth tuppence hapeny in a years time !
So much for cast iron residuals.....

Seems to me that unless you are very wealthy and can afford to lose the depreciation every couple of years, the best thing is to take a longer term view and just enjoy what we have. After all, the 911 is a timeless shape and build wise should stand the test of time.
Still fancy a TT though !

I think the TTs will hold out well to start with because of the demand, and what a lovely car.
Agreed but does the performance gain justify the financial pain ?

The trick is to find a minter that the previous owner (s) have looked after, immaculately run in, no clumsy stalls, crashed gears, kerbed wheels, mucky carpets from clumsy feet that can't stay on the mats ( I hate that ) etc. They must be out there after all, I've sold four such examples in the last 4 years !.
Off to therapy

If i could i would buy a brand new 911 and run it for say 5 or more years, maybe i will one day but my first experince of a Porsche apart from growing up with my father owning a couple, is a 996, Carrera 4 99 model, which i bought over a year ago with 32.000 miles full opc service history and a one owner car and paied less than half of it's new value, and my next one will also be a previously enjoyed 911 and i hope to go for a 997, as i love the look of the new model, who knows maybe a turbo one day,I enjoy the 911 experince and for me this is the only way i can afford to do it.
No need to go to therapy just congratulate yourself on being able to buy so many new ones.
