Any Cayman drivers going to Anglesey?

Yes Brian, I'll be there with friend who was born and brought up on Anglesey but left to go to Uni. We're spending a few days on the island to have a mooch around and hopefully do some walking before the track day.

I've done a few track days but don't have much experience, and Anglesey will be interesting since it's my first time there.

Look forward to catching up with you on the day and to putting a face to the name.

Jeff

Having attended the Knockhill track day last Saturday I am looking forward to Anglesey International track day on the 21st May. This is a new venue for me.

Knockhill was absolutely brilliant. What surprised many was the number of GT4's participating, around 6 or 7 cars I think, compared to only 2 Cayman R's.

It's long trip south for me from near Inverness to Anglesey, so I'm making a short holiday of it. Be interesting to see how many GT4's turn up.

Interestingly, my Cup 2 shod CR, combined with extensive Knockhill familiarity, had no trouble keeping pace with the GT4's through the twisty sections. It'll be a very different situation at Anglesey I expect.

Hope to see some of you Cayman Forum folk on the day.

Brian

Yes, i'll be there. Looking forward to it, Anglesey is a great track.

A newbie in a GT4 won't keep up with a well driven R, but the converse is even more true!

In addition to the above I'll be there in my new to me R. I've done Anglesey a couple of times now in my old 964. It will be interesting to see how the R compares. It will be my first track day in it so I've got to get used to the different characteristics before I push on (I knew exactly what the 964 would do having tracked it for 9 years).

Others attending that I know of are Chris W and Mr D in their GT4s.

Anglesey should suit the GT4 more than the R because it's a power track. The only thing I don't like about Anglesey is there are three hairpins. The middle one is good fun as it's approached at a lowish speed and you can get the rear very loose. The first and second ones need big stops on entry and it takes ages to get back on the power.

Here's a video from last year which will give you an idea of the layout:

And what can happen in a Cayman R if you're a fast driver like Andy Fagan:

I will be there in my GT4, but it will only be my second track day and that wasn't in this car, will have clocked up about 1800 miles in it by the time I get to Anglesey so should be just about run in, although most of those on the Pirelli's.

The wheels will be changed over next week as yet I haven't driven it on a good dry day with the Cup 2's on, let's hope the weather is dry.

I am on the reserve list aggg !!! 4th I hope I get on in the afternoon as people give up and go home, I also made a Holiday of it and all hotels are booked going up Thursday night, other wise its a trip to the Black mountain pass for me and my mates.

I find the last 2 years, a lot of cars are mainly parked up and people take it easy which does leave quite an empty track. it is a full day and no one wants to spend 8 hours on track for sure but it can def take a lot more cars on the day being the full circuit and so many cars went home last year midday.

So I will be there in the GT4 but on track well , lets hope so in the PM session fingers crossed.

normally the event is hard to fill this year it seems over filled !!!

here is me last year , the Spyders go really well there for some reason.

goto 6.10 in to see Darrel in front close to a spin, and a nice catch ;-)

3 Yellow GT4's normally don't see the yellow ones so often :)

Thanks guys. Very helpful videos.

Definitely a power and brakes track, but some good twisty bits which will play well with the CR. Spyder video particularly interesting for me Mr D.........gearing noted.

As it's my first time here, I'll break myself in gradually and get up to pace after I have the grip and the gearing sussed.

Looking forward to it.

See you all there.

Doh! Thought you had booked it ages ago when you asked me which hotel we use. This event has gone from being only just over half booked three years ago to now having a reserve list and being the best supported PCGB track day of the year.

Crazy busy ! , I'll see you at the hotel for beers, I am sure I will be on track in the PM session.

New wheels with supersports fitted in readiness for next weekend [:)]
