Any Cayman drivers going to Anglesey?

Yes, I spotted that lap time too!

Picked up my GT3 cooling ducts yesterday so will have them on for the next track day at Donny. A bargain at less than 20 quid for the pair!

Well the PCCB's are holding up well, still plenty of pad material for Donny on the 6th --- whilst the shoulder on the near side front tyre has rolled the wear is otherwise even so I will leave the geo as-is.

It would be really nice if the weather was warm and dry so that I can re-fit the Cup2's !!

The viper green GT4 looked very well driven --- I never quite reached him to have a play :)

I hope I wasn't holding Mike up .... he's a very handy driver and had improved his car from last year.

Chris, that is very kind of you[:)].... I don't think you had anything to worry about, it looked like you were flying in your car. I was impressed with the Cayman R's last year, but blown away by how rapid the GT4s are. They are very quick in a straight line and have huge corner speed too, more impressive than a GT3 I think.

Yes, I think the viper green car was the quickest of the guys I was following, it was a shame that I ran out of battery at the precise point of the session that they raised the pace, as the 'footage' from my windscreen was very interesting to watch!

Another exemplary track day by PCGB, by far the friendliest TDO I have encountered, congratulations to Steve and the team.

Steve, just curious to know why you're fitting GT3 cooling ducts, are there brake cooling issues with the standard GT4 ones ??

Sandy, Mine's a Cayman R so will benefit from some more cooling. Those big brakes on your GT4 appear to be perfect out of the box!

Thank goodness. Are you coming to Donnington on the 6th ?

I wasn't planning to, I may have a medical appointment on that date, will have a look to check. Also my neck/left arm are playing havoc with me after Anglesey, so I think it may be wise to sit that one out. Having said that, I'm due back at Center Gravity for a quick knock-check, which is not very far away. If I can manage to arrange that for the 6th maybe I can try to swing by to watch (as long as my medical thing doesn't interfere!) Either way, have fun chaps. I'm so envious of you Cayman boys......the perfect track car to my eyes. I also include James' incredible Boxster Spyder too, how impressive is that car?!

I attended the local Blyton trackday the day before. Nice and dry, great track to really push in relative safety and get to know the car.

Very impressed, all the good things you'd expect plus more feelsome steering than I was expecting, brilliant throttle, clear warning when grip was giving up and no understeer (yes, I probably drive it like a 911 and need to experiment more). There were two quick Rs there which seemed every bit as quick as me so maybe I need to try harder - all in good time. Turned all the 'nannying' stuff off and never felt the need for it.

The 'negative' comments, more like observations, really, are lowsy economy (way worse than my 964RS), the car pitches around occasionally under braking accompanied by a fair bit of ABS intervention and, probably personal to me, the size or shape of the brake pedal feels like my foot hasn't always made good contact and I have to concentrate on not slipping off the pedal, needing the odd second bite at it to get good purchase.

I'll take the wheels off this weekend to clean the disc holes and monitor pad wear.

The 'biggy', though is the TPM. What a useless device that is for a track car. 4 sessions out of 6 it wouldn't let me access the track setting so you have no choice other than to drive round with 'puncture warning' signs/alarms. There was a guy there from the local OPC and he couldn't get rid of it nor could his mates back at base. GGRRRRR!!

Folks,

just posted a few photos in the Anglesey Track Day thread, I'm sure there are some Cayman pics on the website

I completely agree with TPR. The only way it works is to keep the tyre pressures above 25psi ish ---- or from cold go out, have a play, come back in with "acceptable" tyre pressures. Stop. Start and whilst stationary re-set circular route, and then go out again. Having said that, it's then quite useful !!
