Any ideas ?

Ah ok, you had me worried for a moment [:D][:D]

How many miles on average do yours last ??

To be fair, if it wasn't for the Geo issue, I think mine would have probably lasted a bit longer...but not much [;)]

But given that mileage, I guess you also use your car during the week ?? Mine is only ever used for Sunday morning blasts and that kind of thing hence shouldn't be taken as a representative example. Have not yet managed to cover 10,000 miles since buying it in Nov 2009 and now on 3rd set of tyres [&:] Then again, all those miles have been on the kind of roads you experienced when we did the "Tan Hill" run so I guess it's a miracle they even last this long (and that my suspension is apparently all still ok) ! To be honest, is why I'm seriously considering a Boxster or something cheaper to run as for what I use it for....997 Turbo is a very expensive machine to keep dealer serviced and in A1 condition.

Weekends only, but we do tend to drive a few hundred miles for a sunday roast
It wasn't that long ago we drove to redmire for a weekend.
The thing is I work all week longing for the weekend just so I can drive the car.
I love it that much, even in the rain.Tanya and I have all good intentions of taking the other vehicle,
then when it comes to it PORSCHE or DISCO(BORING).

Excellent ! I should do more miles in mine really...I daren't work out the cost per mile so far [&:]

I'm with you all the way, much prefer driving to dancing [:D]

Ours really has de-valued so much in 13 months due to the mileage
I really believe though, the car should be used for what it was built for

Got all this to look forward to having only owned mine for 3 weeks [:D]
And how are you getting on with it Rich??

Doug, this set lasted 9K, mainly as it was in at the OPC.. I think 10K is my usual out of a set of rears []
I'll update the survey..

Whilst obviously not - I'm happy to buy the tyres for the return of thrill and fun the car offers me,
I'm interested in the new car but for me the 997 excelled in it's brakes over its smaller brother..by quite some distance!! [&:]

Hi Rich !

Well, don't let my ramblings put you off...as you know...997 Turbo is a truly epic car !!!

Still love mine to bits and running costs are no more than you would expect for a 100k supercar. If I drove a 6 yr old Ferrari like I drive mine, I expect costs would be significantly higher 😱

Only issues I have had with mine are radiators....they are very vulnerable. Other things like tyres / brakes / geo are purely down to me and not the cars fault.

See from your car history you also had Boxsters. Sometimes we overlook just what fun these cars are....normally this happens to me when a large bill is pending on mine and OPC lends me a nearly new one...and the sun is shining 😊

Have to say again though, the new one does look stunning. Spyder version will be really something 🏁

I've got 2 years warranty, 2 years Porsche Assistance, brand new set of tyres and brakes, 12 months RFL, just going to go out, forget all my worries, and have some fun for a few months.
Then I can start worrying about the running costs [&:]

I had a CaymanR as a loaner last week, looked stunning in white and made a great sound... but felt so at home in my own car upon its return
Surprised on the amount of road noise from the Cayman, the 997 suffers from it but the CaymanR just seemed to be quite a bit more [&:]
I am also so used to the braking ability of the 997!! scared myself! [:D]

Looking forward to some excellent roads and routes next week, something that the car just eats...

In the end, my Son wouldn't let me PX the Turbo for a Boxster as he said a convertable wouldn't make such a good ice-cream van [:D]
