Any ideas ?

Was really just the feel of it...I wasn't expecting mega performance so not that...(although didn't feel anywhere near as quick as it probably is)

To me (and I'm no expert so apologies), it felt too soft / refined...even in PASM Sport...too "Woolley"....too quiet...and just...not as much fun as I remember my 986s or even 987 I had for a week recently. To me it felt more like a cruiser than a nimble sports car. Which I know is rubbish (having read the stats, reviews and watched Chris Harris's video) but was how it felt for me [:(]

However, is first PDK I have driven with paddles and I must say, was VERY impressed with that ! Which is great news as now I can set my sights on a Turbo S instead [:D]

Agreed! Just clocked up 20k since Dec 2010. Rear tyres just replaced as bald on insides (had no idea). Front bumper re-sprayed. Looks and feels like new again. Who cares what its worth? Memories.....[:D]

Well done Rob, used just as it should be [:D]
amazes me these people who have covered less than a thousand miles and sell as they aren't using it!!
I've been looking at some other cars of recent but the Porsche is just so useable its left me struggling..

What others have you been considering Gary ??

I think problem with our cars is....what to replace them with (without spending silly money) ?? And then, how much better (in terms fun & usability) would the replacement really be ??

I did a fantastic 400 mile run into North Wales (EVO Triangle etc.) last Saturday with Lotus club + a few other interlopers (Boxster S, TVR Tuscan, WRC Scubie). Roads & scenary were just amazing !! I must say, so was the Turbo....sometimes I think we just take these cars for granted as we are so used to them. Takes a run with others to make one remember what a fantastic all round usable weapon they really are [:D]

I keep swinging between new Boxster as "sensible option" (but not any more [:(]) to 997 GT3 which is the car I think I would really want. But at £80k to get into one with low miles & my ideal spec....and then issue of reduced ground clearance (and reduced acceleration [:D])....I'm wondering if I would regret it ??

Anyway, going to keep mine for now as only reason I can think to change it is simply for changing sake !

Doug, I'm also looking at a Turbo S but I'm after a particular spec... harder than I thought..[&:]
However I have a desire for something Italian and the 458 is exactly the answer, however as you say the 911 is just such a great car it beats the 458 for touring holidays, the Mclaren has the luggage space but the sill is that wide it's not really what I think I need at the moment...
Spent the day looking at a California but maybe when I'm older [;)]....

May sit and wait for the 991 Turbo as my car has nothing wrong with it at the moment, just that itch you get once in a while...
I had hoped the Boxster would answer the looks side of things but 65K it's just too much..![:(]

458 would be awesome however how would it cope with kind of runs we like to do ?? Might be very expensive when you got it airborne Gary [;)]

Turbo S would just be awesome.

Agree regarding Boxster...couldn't get decent manual spec much below 60k so with PDK & Paddles, 60k+ (and Im guessing these are not going to be rare cars).

I'm committing heresy here but is very first Porsche I have test driven where I just thought....no, not for me. And I really was considering buying one. Am still trying to figure out why I didn't like it.... It's definately just my mid-life crisis I think ! Boxster has now become a different kind of car IMO (to appeal to a wider audience maybe ?). Its really, really lovely...BUT...I want my weekend car to be more of an animal....not less. And again, I don't mean just performance, I mean the feel & sound of it. Guess I should grow a handle-bar moustache and buy a TVR Sagaris then [:D]

I think the moustache would suit you Doug,I think Gary is right in saying Turbo S
When Tanya and I test drove the GT3 RS,Yes it is a amazing bit of engineering but not practical
at all,as to the power, lots of it but in a different way.I must admit it did take me back
to my younger years when I had Escorts with w/c cross member,The whole car used to shake and rattle
I think all three Turbo's are plenty for our roads Gen 1/2 and the S.Fantastic cars

You should also factor in a comprehensive tool kit tool as well, then. [&:]

Clive.

PS. No mention of an Aston here yet, I see.
