April 28th 2019 R7 Visit to McLaren Leeds

Hi, With only just over a week to go I’m tidying up loose ends of which there are a few. Due to the way this has developed from just a visit to the McLaren showroom, the offer of bacon sandwiches, the collection for charity The Lymphoma Association, the addition of a run and lunch at Mackenzies Smoke House it has been a little messy. You indicated your wish to join the party (of 40 plus) for lunch therefore please will you select your meals from the menu which can be accessed via the link at the end of paragraph 4 at the start of the post, by Sunday 21st? Please state your selection either on the forum thread or by emailing me rogergoode47@gmail.com Thank you in anticipation.Roger

P.S. Anyone reading this who has not requested lunch but now wishes to partake please tell me ASAP as the few remaining places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Food will also be available in the public café/restaurant if the limit of 50 is exceeded. There’s no limit to the number doing the 30 mile drive.

I‘ve searched but can‘t find your email. I wonder if you may have sent it to an incorrect email address as another member did. It seems that at some point my email address was shown incorrectly with ‘at‘ at the beginning Rather than starting with ‘roger’ Anyway I now have your order so all is well. Enjoy Easter and I look forward to seeing both of you on 28th.

 
Roger - My passenger has had to withdraw from coming along next Sunday, so there’ll be one extra space available for someone on the reserve list. So my remaining attendance will be for one, bacon butty only (ie i’m not down for lunch). Thanks

Thank you for letting me know Steve, it’s worked out well as you will see from the post below. I had one spare and your passenger withdrawing enabled this couple to fill the spaces.

PLACES AVAILABLE FOR THE SCENIC DRIVE AND LUNCH AFTER THE VISIT TO McLAREN

Due to changes in circumstances a few places are now available at MacKenzies Smoke House.

The gathering at McLaren is from 10.00am until noon on Sunday 28th April.

 
Gill will not be going to McLaren so this will free up a space & a veggie sandwich. She has to babysit our new arrival.

MCLAREN SUNDAY UPDATE

Start time is circa 10.30 am Finish....when your all gone I am told!

Mclaren have arranged a SPECIAL GUEST for the day......A Mr Niki Faulkner (maybe your familiar with him?) he has been the stunt driver and driving double for Jeremy Clarkson for Top Gear and The Grand Tour for the past 10-15 years. He has also been the stunt driver in many films such as Mission Impossible, Rush, etc. Obviously he has vast experience of all types of high performance cars including the whole McLaren and Porsche range and can therefore knowledgeably highlight key benefits of both Mclaren and Porsche! At some stage well gather in the showroom and there is a nice opportunity for a Q and A with Niki.

Please contribute a small donation to the charities as all of the event is Mclaren Funded. Butties/coffee van on site as promised. They are investing Millions in this new facility in Leeds and it is also possible we will be given a walk around the site and buildings going up for those interested.

Our hosts (who have been very accommodating to the Club) are Mark Balance, Gen Sales Manager and Richard Coldwell, Sales on the day and I will be floating around from 10am.

The only thing I couldn't find was where is the McLaren dealer? maybe everyone knows already but to save anyone else looking it up this is the address:

That is indeed correct. It is behind Temple Green Park and Ride site and a little hidden by it.

From M1 junction 45 north, take the first exit, Pontefract Lane towards east Leeds. At the first roundabout take the first exit and you will see the McLaren showroom just beyond the park and ride.
