April DOTM Cotswolds Classic Car Hub, Bibury - Sunday 7th April 2019

Hi, I happy to be last man and not be in the initial car cortege.

I’ll happily hang back and arrive to the event following my own Sat Nav.

We can all catch up once there.

No problems.

Hi everyone,

I am sorry that this event is currently closed to Porsches! In my eagerness to get everyone a chance of attending by booking early, and with everyone doing what was asked of them, we have overweighted the Porsches in proportion to other marques. Our numbers stand out because we have taken a large chunk of the early bookings.

I am sure that existing bookings will be honoured.

I will have a word with the proprietors of the Hub to check this point and also to see if they can allow any more in, either now, or a bit further along the line. They certainly made no indication to me that they make this kind of restriction.... but perhaps it’s a first for them!

Meanwhile, if those unlucky ones still wanting to go could let me know on this thread, I will set up a reserve list.

If anybody already booked finds they cannot make it, however close to April 7th that might be, please let me know that too, and I will try to get the Hub to accept a swap from our reserves.

The good news is that this is a regular event and others will be able to attend in the future. In addition, their 1st September event (on the R10 calendar) is Coffee and German Classics, which hopefully will be open to a bigger proportion of Porsches.

Thanks for your understanding.

Mark
Hi Mark,

Don't know if this helps at all, here, but I spoke to the Hub last week about events for 2019 (they hadn't all been put up then, but are showing now) and asked about specific Marquees, and they are doing countries this year (Italian, British and German) as you have indicated above. When speaking to them, she did say things go fairly quickly and she was aware of what you were planning, but made no indication it would be limited, because I asked about ages or Porsche and what they thought about classic ages. I just don't think they expected us to all book en mass immediately it seems lol Hopefully, other marquess will apply and the Porsche numbers dilute a bit.

I'm signed up for the German event, as I think it'll give a nice mix. I was looking at going to the April Coffee to meet you there, but having run through my events forthcoming, am going to sit this one out and do the June one, if they are not taking any more Porsches, but, I will see if it changes on here and on their site.

What doesn't appear to be showing is their summer BBQ, which I think will be July time and that looked good last year.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your message. I haven’t spoken yet with the Hub, but I was expecting to hear from them how we all rushed in unexpectedly. To be honest, it caught me out too... I didn’t expect so many members to jump in on the first two days!!

I get the impression that all their events are good... I am arranging R10 drives for April and September... but am fixing other things for other months.

Of course everyone is free to go there if and when they want, and I am sure that if members going on other dates want to put up a note on the forum, they could travel together with others who might have the same idea. So you could do that for your June visit there if you want some company.

Thanks again for your comments.

Welcome, Dave, Lindsey and Russ. 14 now.. might need two convoys!!

Bren & Gail if you are at the Super Sausage you become R10 honorary members!!
I feel we should offer our place to one of the regular r10 folks, being an r8 member it was just a ride out for us, if someone wants to go I'll cancel our spot.

Hi everyone,

With one month to go, here are some details regarding the drive out to the Classic Motor Hub (The Old Walls, Bibury GL7 5NX). If you wish to join one of the two convoys of about 10 cars each, joining instructions and recommended route appear below.

Two convoys need two leaders - I will take one of them. Could I please have a volunteer for Convoy 2.

We also need a lunch venue. In my absence for the next 4 weeks, could I please ask someone to volunteer to find a place for us to eat at about 1.30pm, following the ending of the event at 1.00pm, and make any arrangements. There could be up to 40 people, so it would be good to run a list of those that will and those that won't join the lunch party.

[ul][*]8.00am prompt depart Super Sausage Cafe (NN12 7QD). It opens at 7.00am if you wish to buy breakfast. Please park along the wall by the main road.[*]8.15am join Convoy 1 at Silverstone Circuit Cafe (NN12 8TL) (note: the cafe will not be open)[*]8.25am Late starters can join Convoy 2 10 miles further south (Croughton A43/B4031 - (NN13 5RD));[*]8.35am Convoy 1 will pass the same point;[*]Should you wish to preload your satnav, the proposed route is:[ul][*]A43 to Brackley, continue until[*]B4031 to Croughton, Aynho, Deddington, Hempton, continue until [*]A361 to Chipping Norton, Shipton under Wychwood, Burford[*]Left on A40 for 1.1 miles until left onto[*]B4425 to Bibury[*]Bear right at The Swan Hotel to Ablington, bearing right to destination after 1.2 miles.[/ul][/ul]The event starts at 10.00am - we should arrive between 10.15 and 10.30.

Please email me advising where you will start so that the cars can be split into the 2 convoys.

I look forward to seeing you on the day.

Happy motoring!

Mark

Hi Mark Joanne and myself will meet at the super sausage cafe at 7 ish and would be interested in lunch.

Don’t know if anyone has looked at possibilities yet

Hello Mark

Pam and I will meet at The Super Sausage Cafe.

Lunch venue for about 1:30pm

I've been doing some ringing around and I have found a pub that can accommodate approximately 20 cars and the 40 Porsche enthusiastic diners.

The pub is called The Village Pub in Barnsley, Cirencester, GL7 5EF. I've spoken to Anthony the manager and he would need deposits from all the diners and confirmation of numbers.

http://www.thevillagepub.co.uk

I'm happy to organise lunch if everyone is happy with the venue, I just need everybody to email me 50lesn@gmail.com to confirm numbers. Once we have numbers Anthony said he can confirm menus, so if you have any dietary requirements please let me know.

I'll await your replies

Kind regards

Les
