ORIGINAL: jayxx83 Guards red is stunning. I'm going to be there 10am on the 3rd if you want a nosey!
A little far for me as I am in London :pbut our Racing Red Spyderman kitchens may have more chance to meet & greet you [;)] Good luck with the handover kitchens was super impressed with the service he received from Edinburgh guys

Jonathan I have posted on PH a few times re your pending purchase user name WoodySnr on there Kitchens on here long story[;)] You will find OPC Edinburgh good to deal with...I may be around on the 3rd not sure yet ..Edinburgh is around a 140 round trip from where I live . I know the previous owner as I said and the car was not treated harshly .He traded it for a new GT3 that had been on order for some time but was happy to hold on to it as he loved the car . Brian

That's no problems kitchens! You guys on here are awesome. The car seems to have been loved previously and it's going to be no different when she comes home. Will only be in London for a few more months before moving to Surrey. This baby isn't going to be touching one speed bump!

ORIGINAL: jayxx83 Guards red is stunning. I'm going to be there 10am on the 3rd if you want a nosey!I kind of wish mine was an actual colour. Red, blue, green yellow etc. Had 4 black cars, 2 silver, and only one red! Looking at hi-res pics of silver I can't see me being disappointed in the flesh and perhaps being a little less conspicuous is a good thing for now. There are some really nice black pdk ones for sale at the moment. The one in SW London looks stunning. For me this is a weekend car only and probably won't get much time until the spring to use it. Can't wait for drives down to beachy head, lemans, kent / Surrey country roads, Wales!
As I have mentioned on here before silver is my favourite Spyder colour just because historically it is the "right" colour for a Spyder and indeed not very common. Mine is Basalt Black and as you can see there are quite a few about.

Any of the spyder owners have an agreed valve on there car, and if so what is the best procedure to acquire one for the insurance guys.

I have an agreed value with my Chubb Insurance policy via my broker Lockton's based on the dearest OPC price at the time I renewed the policy this summer I was not asked to get an official quote in writing [:-]

In the current rising market, I would suggest avoiding an agreed value? They just seem to be going up and up despite the weather!

my insurance is due very soon, any advice regarding companys/values

I tried the Porsche club one Locktons but found it way to expensive.......in the end I went with Aviva again I pay around £250 fully comp protected NCD excess £700 . The obvious are to try the comparison site or try some of the brokers listed in PP. As always age PC NCD Endorsements all come into play ...shop around ,gone are the days sticking with the one company year after year

I guess it’s third time lucky. After a pretty stressful buying experience this time around, being almost sold one from an OPC with no service for 37 months, then doing a deal with a private seller only to be let down, I picked up a lovely white Spyder from Paragon Porsche yesterday. They supplied my last 997 and, I have to say, are a superb dealer from my reasonable experience, I can’t recommend them enough. I think the seller would say the car needed nothing, but they still did an early service, brake fluid change, suspension coffin arms, exhaust flange bolts, full geometry, professional touch up of front bumper for a few stone chips, Boxster rear badge removal, personal plate supply & new MOT and 1yrs warranty. So nothing to pay for 2 years bar consumables. I did prefer manaul but decided to go for PDK as I wanted to buy now, and available stock is very thin, and this had my 5 absolute must haves of Spyder wheels, buckets, PSE, air con and music. I must say initial impressions are very good and it’s really growing on me already. Changing down is much more efficient than manual, just two quick dabs and you’re ready for the corner. If anything it’s almost too efficient, but makes you look good ! I said I would not, EVER, use full auto, but heading back through Tonbridge Wells in crawling city traffic, I did and it was bloody convenient I have to say, coming from a manual 997… The sky turned blue, we thought what the hell, pulled over, took off the roof (it is very easy as advised) and headed home. Heater on 29, PSE and Sport mode activated, it was superb and what owning this type of car is all about. Had another blast with my daughter today, but it was pretty damp so need to be a bit careful whilst I get to know the car, but she says it looks “well cool”.. I do already notice more glances than my 997 I have to be honest… Anyway, looking forward to a continental trip or two next year, as well as a couple of PCGB track days and runs out with R20. I will use mine every weekend pretty much, no hibernation for me, after a week in the office it’s my release and why I bought it. Re insurance, I decided to pay a bit more and go with Locktons, as this includes PCGB track day cover and UK/European breakdown cover. In terms of value, I have agreed value on what I paid, and they said I can call them if values rise and get this moved up as part of the policy.

Congratulations and welcome to one of Porsche best kept secret success stories where less was definitely more[:D] Like you after an entire manual motoring life I bought my brothers 900 miles PDK, very reluctantly selling my short shift manual Spyder and can happily say I have not a single regret since making this drastic change although I have never used the auto mode and stick strictly to paddle shifting 24/7 Look forward to reading your planned adventures as they come to fruition and by coincidence the 997 Speedster I found for my brother came from Paragon too and their service and attention to detail is 1st class indeed
