ORIGINAL: DarrellWilson As my need to sell has gone away, I'm therefore delighted to say my Spyder is staying. One thing I am now pondering is adding sports mode (£600ish) - would appreciate any comments on the difference it makes to the driving experience for someone who is looking to get the best out of the car on road and track. I know what Porsche claims it does but would like to hear about any real life experience of the before and after impact of adding it to a Spyder - I want to avoid the risk of disappointment.
Is that 600-ish including VAT? If so I'd be interested in who quoted it, as I've just been quoted 724 inc VAT for the sport mode retrofit...
It is inc vat - make sure you tell them you're a Porsche GB member to get discount off the parts and don't accept the first price they give you. My (albeit limited) experience is your local OPC will do the best to keep you.

hay Darrel that's great news you are keeping the sister car to mine ;-) come and try my car out it has a few more trick bits now Ajustable LCA with -2 and even more front track, option to goto -2.5 settings on track and rear Monoball Toe links. I had sports mode retro fitted on the car, just like the response on the throttle better.
Be good to meet up again and will be interested to experience the difference the bits make. I'm trying to sort a date to meet with a mate who has just bought a CGT, be great to get a photo of our two with the CGT. I'll let you know.

i love it it gets pressed as soon as i get in the car along with pse! if you dont have a short shift gear lever that would also be on my list
Got PSE and short shift - is it just the throttle response that makes you love it? Is it that noticeable when it's switched on versus not?
Catching up to me I am only on 3100 and the car is now tucked up in the garage hibernating
How do you hibernate her? or he? [:D] Mines going to sleep from the 20th Dec, so after some tips!. Prob wont be coming out for 2 months, maybe more. On another note, is there anymore info on the new Spyder...... Thanks, Phil

My road tax run out on 30/11 so it went on sorn for the first time in nearly 3 years as I don't use much over winter what with the weather,Xmas and holiday in the sun some time after!my garage is well built and damp free but I still gave it a wash dried the brakes and covered up. In the last 11 years of porsche ownership and leaving a car unstarted for up to 8 weeks + on a regular basis never had a problem starting!also I run the petrol down until the range is about 30 miles (couple of gallons)leave the handbrake off and roll the car couple of feet back or forwards every couple of weeks .before I moved my other cars just sat outside covered with no problems.

Get it used! I drove it at minus 10 once - roof down, hat on, it was epic!

Thats a bit hardcore Rob, Now tell me you didn't have heated seats[;)] I saw a gritter out three weeks ago near Cambridge on the A428, I reckon they did not use much last year so they have more than enough to get rid of this year. Crazy[&:]

cars don't like not being used, things seeze up, seals dry out, fuel tanks can corrode, some say fill it up and add a Fuel Stabilizer , petrol helps the tanks. pump tyres upto 65psi# but imo nothing better than a 20 mile run out every few weeks. also cylinders start to rust !!!! just like your brake disks which you can see to quote on the fuel. as some one stated "also I run the petrol down" !!!! "Fill the fuel tank with fresh, premium fuel. Condensation in the tank is a problem in stored vehicles, and it is widely suggested that you fill the tank completely with Premium non-alcohol fuel in order to avoid any empty space where water can accumulate"

Thanks, will go back to them and ask them to try harder on the price!

I agree and do an average 150 dry miles + per month Exceptions being as and when we have dry but salted & gritted roads []

+1 from me. I can't really say it's easy to justify spending the £600, but I had it retro fitted, and would I do it again? Yes I would. It's just "smoke and mirrors" but somehow it just makes the car feel more alert.
