Awesome looking scenery and what a great way to use a tankful of super unleaded [] Looks like not too many other road users had the rare sight of two Spyders driven in angerORIGINAL: flat6 T'was a great morning. Was a lot of fun. Brilliant roads and these cars are designed to take a work out taking them on. Was also pretty cool getting to watch a Spyder in motion. You never get to see your own. Following another one sounds pretty good too. Thanks to Rob for taking me out there[].

Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Not up there but we got some attention en route. Must have made quite a sight. All good fun. Flat6 was a great wingman but when he took the lead it took some effort to keep up!
I think I was running on pure adrenalin by that stage[] In some ways I think the twisty stuff is more exciting than track work. Yeah it was a rare sight for many, seeing 2 almost identical, rare car, with both drivers braving 3 degree temps with the top down but hat and gloves[8D] The girl in the Mondeo that passed us a couple of times on the motorway was very amused. I thought teenagers were more interested in their mobile phones[] On our way there, a few times when Rob passed someone, they pulled over for me, instantly recognising that it was a 2 man team[] By about 10:30 the temp had risen and it was perfect conditions and we looked a little less conspicuous going top down[]
Mondeo passed you guys a couple of times! Never realised they were that quick Had your two cars been de-badged I think people who pulled over for the 2 man team would have thought you were in some sort of prototypes yet to get a roof fitted [] Great shot of resting Spyders The calm before the storm []ORIGINAL: flat6 Yeah it was a rare sight for many, seeing 2 almost identical, rare car The girl in the Mondeo that passed us a couple of times on the motorway was very amused. We took it easy on the motorway. No fun in straight line speed[] You're right daro, I think it could pass as a concept car for a few more years. Referring back to the 981 comparison on previous pages, whilst the 981 looks more modern, i'm as yet unsure as to whether it's the type of 'modern' that has a shorter shelf life. When I look at 50 years of the 911, the smooth curvy shapes have an acceptance to the eye, beyond their era. That was continued up to the 987 IMHO. Don't get me wrong, the 981 is a better looking car than the 987 (and on the way back a stunning looking 981 pulled into the same petrol station as us, in Guards Red with black wheels) and I too think that the 981 is a bigger leap forward than the 991. But, sharper lines may be harder for Porsche to evolve without another radical step.
Looks like you had fun! Seems like a cheap [link=http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201302285544978/sort/default/usedcars/model/boxster/make/porsche/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/postcode/bn90bd/page/2/keywords/spyder/radius/1500?logcode=p]Spyder on Autotrader[/link], won't hang around long at £31,030!
Try calling the number. yesterday morning the car was £36k Seems to be a SCAM!![] Also seems to be Spyderman Johns car as the mileage, colour and age are identical to what he purchased a few weeks backORIGINAL: homerdog Looks like you had fun! As the number is dead what is the point! I take it they have illegally posted this ad up without Autotraders knowledge or am I missing something here [&o]ORIGINAL: homerdog I noticed it had the same red stitching on the seats as John's. There are so many idiots around these days!
Did you rule this one out Brian?ORIGINAL: kitchens Looks identical to John's car as you said .Disappeared from Auto trader now back and at a reduced price off £5k seems strange and the number is dead .What is the point of advertizing a car already sold ?? The search goes on . Brian
If Brian buys it then Spyders would be extinct at OPCs and we'd have to end the thread.

It's ok, I think...
From the Pistonheads thread, Porsche 987 Boxster Spyder Purchase, posted Saturday. Chatting to Graeme about our new Spyder and he mentioned they have a Guards Red Spyder coming in today as a trade in. Think he said it was a 2011 with approx 1450 (yep 1450) miles, manual, PSports Exhaust, Sports Chrono, Red dials, Short Shift, Air con and a couple of other goodies. Thought I would mention it on here before it hits the OPC website. Cheers George
Rob that is Spyderman John's new car if the red dials is incorrect! Surely a different car? With 223 (?) UK cars, Pistonheads has identified 34 owners now on its Spyder thread and we know of a few others - still leaves, say, 185 cars with owners that don't visit internet motoring forums.
Rob from the horses mouth so as to speak [] "With reference to your email below regarding the 987 Spyder stats, please find details below :" 3.4 Spyder YR 10 = 147 YR 11 = 89 YR Jan 12 = 1 Total = 237 UK CarsORIGINAL: rob.kellock Surely a different car? 14 cars out - not bad. [] Apologies, I didn't have time to check when I posted... I know your source []
