Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

Darrell when is your build slot scheduled for currently [:)]

God only knows. Communication has been poor. I have the first car from my OPC, originally July build, the last I heard was Oct but I've not been asked to lock my spec yet so that sounds unlikely. I did order LWB but they've not told me officially that's delayed the car, I'm not ordering PTS and the rest is standard stuff.

This is my first new Porsche ordering experience and it's been poor. It's really taken a shine off the original excitement, which may have influenced my view of the car now I've driven it. I may have put up with my perceived negatives to get the car in July, but the combination of a poor buying experience and it not being as engaging at the 987 I'm unlikely to keep it long if I even go ahead with the purchase.

If it makes you feel any better this will be my 10th new Porsche and the worst experience of the 10 [&:]

I can't even blame it on Porsche being a mass producer of cars today compared to my last brand new Porsche purchase back in 2005 as I got a much better more helpful & enthusiastic buying experience when in recent few years buying a Mini (Stephen James) an Audi (Piccadilly) and most recently a VW (Blades Gloucester) who where 1st class even though the purchase was just a £13k Polo!

Historically I always found when Porsche were flying high there sales attitude was rock bottom and when times were tough some sort of acceptable customer service returned to the arena :ROFLMAO:

Bottom line it was the car that impressed me and everything else that has happened since parting with my £5k deposit is immaterial in the bigger picture - Porsche UK customer service 2015 is what it is

Just as an aside I got so much amazing help and information from a Porsche dealership in Canada answering my question with at least a dozen pictures of 3 cars that they just happened to have in stock when I made my inquiry on one of those live chat lines and the salesman, who had no idea I was in UK, even took pictures of the cars outside the artificial lighting of the showroom so I could judge the colours in a more natural light plus detailed information with each picture he emailed! Beat that for customer service

I made my inquiry on one of those live chat lines :ROFLMAO: and what site would that be pray tell Robert ?

I have to agree I made an initial enquiry being promised one but as I had not put down my £5 k I lost my slot .The level of service was not what one would expect from a high end marque they seem to be able to sell cars easy .

I think the 981 Spyder looks better in black than the 987, am I alone?
John with 779 pages, 215088 views and 15570 replies you will never walk alone in this forum [:D] but to answer your question I wouldn't personally want a Black Spyder or any other car as a gift but it certainly looks much better than the Black 987 version [8D]

Is the above car the most expensive Spyder Virgin have had for sale, I think so.
Not sure but certainly right at the top of there price range in the meantime we have 5 @ an OPC and a further 7 elsewhere. Thats enough fodder to keep the market over supplied for the shortly coming long dark cool grey winter ahead

only 2 nice cars for sale though , be interesting if those 2 sell coming up to winter.
Which are the 2 nice cars then? How would you know without viewing them all??

'Nice' = manual gearbox in this case. In fact it should have only been one - manual gearbox and buckets, other has chairs.

You'll get used to this old chestnut if you stick around [;)]

1 OPC one Private = 2 :)

Want PDK buy the new one, o wait..., even Porsche think to have an involving car it means manual only , so while most of the Porsche range go PDK the 981 SPyder is Manual only :'-)

All I see on the net are people flipping PDK Spyder for newer cars or even the manual Spyder, So even though the 981 seems less involving than the 987 car it's more involving than a PDK 987 Spyder ;-)

here end the lesson ;-p

And yes the new 981 does look better in black , it hides the poor non smooth lines... where the 987.2 car was a pretty thing you wanted to look at.

Have seen a red hood on a white 981 BOXSTER and thought it worked well and have wondered why they have never optioned different colour hoods for the spyder ie red, black or blue
