There is no suffering with a 987 PDK Spyder and the new car in a typical 987 v 981 model for model comparison is a very different proposition altogether but I can add if a manual isn't a 100% deal breaker its about as good and fast a shift of any manual out there past or present Porsche precision at its very bestjohnnyspyder* said:Saw the new Spyder for the first time at Goodwood Revival yesterday . It is the the SEC car. I have to say it looks MUCH better in the flesh an d I even liked the bucket seats!. The GT Silver with classic interior certainly suits the car. Only part I am not sure of is the front spoiler which seems to protrude a bit too far and looks a bity "after market". If only they had offered PDK I would - like many of you on here - be looking forward to delivery. Good luck to you and I am sure you'll be pleased. I will just have to "suffer" my 987 Spyder for a while longer - life is hard sometimes !!
Enjoy the 987 PDK as its a very unique feature now Spyders only come with 3 pedals

not an option any more. They are replaced with 2 way electric sport seats. On the
GTS model the buckets are still available at a price. I sore Daros video from the
States and that car had the electric sports seats is this Porsche moving the goal
posts.

you will never get UK number now, will have to wait till how many left and view in 2 years
ORG UK numbers were 150 cars. I doubt it will be less , in most case a few more slip in.

LWB's now subject to a 4-8 week delay across all GT and Spyder models; OPC's/Porsche hoping the delay will encourage buyers to ditch buckets for Sports seats to secure earlier delivery.
For info OPC's first GT4 going out today; Guards non-clubbie
cheers

Will be interesting to see how quickly it sells .Mine has 1/3 of those miles , has slightly different spec ie hoops painted Red and Red dials other than that it is its twin .Mine would come with a brand new MOT Sept 2015 and major service done Sept 2015 and fully Porsche warranted till Oct 2017 Red does look fantastic it is a long time since I have another one in that spec .
The ratio of the number of PDK to manual 987s coming up for sale is an interesting one. There must be something in it. Maybe there's a larger proportion of PDK owners, not all, that more want to embrace the latest and greatest and as such turn their cars over more often to try something new, never getting emotionally attached to any car no matter how much they enjoyed it. Certainly better for business, so Porsche won't be complaining (though said customers might not necessarily be brand loyal either). I expect they're less likely to compare old with new as that's more of a nostalgic tendency. The new car is the new car no matter what it's lost off the old one. Being new trumps most everything and 'nothing tried nothing gained'.
To that end, I don't think Porsche made the GT4 and Spyder manual only to satisfy anyone. I think they're both too good a package and would get too close to the Carrera S than they would like, in the hierarchy, so something had to give. Robbing them of even more power would make it pointless using the 3.8, so the PDK was dropped instead. That's my reckoning anyway.
The green Spyder is certainly different. Not sure why it looks less stunning to my eye than any shade of PTS blue - probably just a personal thing. British Racing Green might work though... Oh well, someone else's dilemma lol. Enjoy the new car, those that are getting one.
The Spyder vs GTS review was an interesting read. Got it pretty much spot on I thought. I think if the 981 used the same engine as the GTS, as did the last Spyder with respect to the S i.e. just a small power increase of the same engine, I think the Spyder would still distinguish itself as a separate choice, for those who particularly want a Spyder. The 997 Sport Classic achieved as much differentiation with less.
So, what's happening with 987 Spyder pricing? Haven't been following but looks at a glance that prices are holding firm despite mileages rising. Looking good for the long term.
