Are we shy?

Hi...........Only had my RS for a couple of months (thanks Paul) and absolutely love it, a brilliant machine, which seems to deliver more every time I drive it.
One thing though.........[&:] How come the 964 RS Forum is SO active compared to ours (even allowing for the fact that we don't have a carreraboy!). Perhaps it's simply that we are quietely content to enjoy the ultimate evolution of the 'Lightweight'[;)]......... or are we shy.....What d'ya think???

Ps: Looking forward to meeting some of you at NW on Friday.

Expect a visit from Des...any minute now[;)]

Maybe there are just fewer of you that can type[:D]

But I'm sure you'll come back with 'you've got better things to do like driving your RS than sitting infront of a pc..' so i'll save you the bother[:)]

Oh my god I've just realised you've put the ultimate evolution of the 'Lightweight'...you've had it now....

DES!!!!!!!!

Its best to keep quite about these cars, and not to tell to many that its one of best ever made.As you said much better driving than typing and trying to spell correktly!
All will come clear after friday, there will be a lot of 964 rs for sale on saturday morning,me and paul mac have got a stock of cars in already for the pre xmas rush!!

So here it is my fellow followers of the "LEICTHBAU" the 993RS was a bespoke factory optioned car you could everything from twin airbags aircon have seen cebtral locking roof windows seats rear seats you name it so to me it really is a 993 with a 3.8 Varioslip Engine producing probably anything from 240 - 300/310 BHP depending on how bad it is. The rarity is a 993 ClubSport nice machine but does not drive or feedback like the 964RS done many laps in mates good driver to be honest very whinny predictable and had a lot of trouble keeping up with a well driven 964RS in front. Plus to me they lost the look....let's be honest Guys here...I first fell in love with a bamboo 2.2S in my dad's drive 35 years ago with the frog front that stayed until they pandered to the USA. Nothing like lining up those front wings into the apex missed it madly in the 993. It looked like a 911 just as Butzi (signed my bootlid) designed it and as his Dad Dr P said you got it right first time, if it aint broke don't fix it......the 964/RS LOOKS LIKE A 911 and feels like a 911 last of the 63' Butzi designed cars........since then the 911 has gone soft we all know.....996 with the exception of the MK1 GT3 Clubsport was that all about, I put the 993 in between, nice more civilised but diluted. Paul et autres personnes will arrive with very very heavily converted cars.....I know we play with chips boxes and exhausts but these guys go the whole whack keeping Colin der 9Meister Guru in the foldy stuff. Yes 993 Pretty my dentist/neighbour printer has one but now when I go and sit my car in the garage it gives me the biggest buzz looks feel and poise......the 993 was very much a break from the 911 mould.......yes nice buy can't line up that front into the apex..less intimate...you sit so close to the passenger particularly in those Recaro seats......you just have to look at the testimonials of ex GT3/RS 993RS owners who have returned to the addictice skateboard instsant response nearest thing to pure 911 driving ever, unpredictable hard all involving instant response just blip that throttle faster than a turbo of the day although Porsche gave the same figures a s 964C4!!!! 11.7 secs to 100MPH and will pull all the way to 300KPH even in standard tune. So are the 993RS boys Shy NO THEY ARE NOT........just probably a bit outnumbered been on many travk days great bunch of guys and competitors Porsche Challenge etc....Paul Howells great stolwart together with Vic Cohen etc it's that just that they are frustrated 964RS owners and dream of really feeling that go-kart punch as the Dr P.intended way back when he was building the original Mercedes and Auto Union than dominated the GP World back in the 30's.....sorry to lament but as always it's what floats your boat........interesting that all the magazines use the 964RS as the yardstick against the current batch of RS etc...beaten the 993RS/GT3RS in the greatest test ever it cam second only to the 2.7RS Lightweight as the greatest 911 ever.....3rd GT3 then 993 GT2 then 993RS I think..........these cars are vey addictive I dare you to drive one........[:D]

Some very very keenly priced 993RS on H&S site it would seem the 993RS market a bit softer at the moment could be a good time to buy one of these fantastic cars............[:D]

If only that were true Des....about the prices being a little softer.

Des, maybe I should wait until next week, surely 993RS prices will be in free fall as everyone tries to sell at once? [;)]

I was considering a decent, low mileage, accident free 964RS if I could find such a car, I think I may actually be a little too shy & retiring for one though.

You 993 guys might like one of these hmmmmmmmmmm

Accident free 964RS!.......................has Joe Bugner been punched round the ring? Buy and pay on condition unless you want to buy a museum piece then spend £40K plus.....for a garage queen..........maybe you could persuade Lee to sell his ex-racer hill climb car fantastic rebuild.......!!! Just like new..........[:D]

mmmmmmmmmm let me think. So, according to this in half an hour I will want to sell my car. Don't think so[:D] However, I saw an engine today that would look rather nice in it......................can you ever have too much power?[:D]

Jah Righthooker..........you can have too much power in a 964RS the chassis is so balanced on a power to weight basis that anything way above 300BHP make the car lethal and handle like a piece of soap in a wet shower.....the optimum balance hast to be the factory intended circa 300BHP with the right set up...I have seen 400 BHP monsters RUF/Turbo cars must be undriveable...would I want any more power NO..torque is great too 270lb ft it's a balanced platform for between 262 standard and up to about 340 max otherwise.....can't handle waht I got....these increased BHP boys are mainly the mobile gin palace brigade carrying massive weight and the cup holders. The sheer nature of a true lightweight car is balance too much power will completely unstable the beast. That's why Porsche built the 3.8RS on a wide body.....need I say more
