Are we shy?

It must have been granny driving![;)]
Des your car looks nice with the white wheels, the banter is also good, but i do not agree still. The 3.8rsr was only 340 to 350bhp,they would easily handle 550bhp.I viewed /inspected a ex factory 3.8 rsr car for a friend in new york in late sept,it was a nice car,but felt slow. And again a big dolop of torque, when you dont realy want it.But most of this is down to homoligation of the standard production engine, which is then slightly developed with in fia guide lines/restrictions.
A well set up 64 with 400bhpNA,will take some beating, and i would love one as a track day toy.
I think if we did a more detailed comparison of the cars, they would both need to be on factory settings and the same New tyres.
But again great fun,the probert cafe was top notch, and the excuse to have a play sideways was not to be missed.I normaly moan at my self if i get out of shape, with lost time, etc when racing,so with no clocks and positions etc fun, fun, fun!![:D]

Hi Paul, are you going to organise the Silverstone based event ? It would be good to have more turn out of 993s , to even up the numbers with the 964s , and I reckon a total of 20 cars ie 10 of each would be good ...larger numbers are difficult to manage and not so intimate [;)]

Paul, the reason Des's car looked good with the white wheels is because it's mine. Des's car was the creamy white car with the dodgy lamp covers.

And one day when I'm rich and famous, I is gonna get me self a 400bhp 64 and have big fun. One can never have too many horses IMHO[:D]

Lee - you sure you didn't whip your head lamp covers on when no one was looking?

Silverston - where do I sign up?

Paul, do you know how many bhp the RSR engine delivered? RSR engines came in many different forms (depending on regulations). I have ~375bhp (RS-tuning) in my car (another ex-factory RSR). Given that the car is light, it feels/is fast (especially at Spa with 245 and 305 slicks!) You *want* "a big dolop of torque" to push the car along the Kemel straight and wide rubber to keep on the black stuff in the "double-left" and "Blanchimont" [;)] 993 RS (and clubsports, and GT3s, including RSs) typically stay in my rear view mirror [;)] 996 cups are in front [:(]

Glad you are paying attention in the back..............[:)]

I wish my 993rs was as fast as a 964rsr then[;)].The 3.8 rsr was typically 340 to 350bhp,as of factory din standards.Generally the cars were running on restrictors with differant maps to suit the size, and the class. Some did claim 370 bhp with no restrictors and proper mapping.
rs tuning is another matter and not a factory standard,i have a rs tuning gt2 engine, twin spark and all the dogs dangaly bits, again with a big dolop of torque when you dont always want it.The best mapped engines i have come across are 3 gt2 road cars, faster than most, very drivable in wet or dry.My 993 supercup was mapped by the same person, put the torque across the full rev range.Laps times would prove the point, especially at spa.My cup car lap times improved by approx 3 secs at spa.

Paul, what is your 993 Supercup laptime at Spa?

I recall a couple of years ago being driven around Spa with some Old Boy Racing Driver Instructor from Silverstone which was meant to be a twenty minute session turned into an hour of shear brilliance as he spanked every Porsche on the Autotrack day and we know what kit turns up......watching the car in front struggling hard not to give way to a lowly 964(RS) never laughed so much as a passenger giving the driver a good wave and a wink witth a big thumbs up all those GT3's, 993RS's GT2/Turbo's and yes even an F40 or two.....Conclusion Driver 85% car 14% simple innit he insisted on taking me round again a little quicker just felt so inadequate as he stamped the ABS.....powered through Eau Rouge flat out!!!! he had never driven a 964RS before..........and this was all on SO'2's...[:)]
