B&M Short Shifter

Does anybody know of a UK source for the B&M short shifter? I can find plenty in the US but google doesn't give me anybody locally.

Anybody in the UK fitted one themselves ?

Porscheshop sell them.

I've looked at these a few times, but it seems so much for so little metal...

Let us know if you like it!

(Demon Tweeks sell them as well)

Would also be interested if you do. On US fora they say it is essential kit. How much does it cost here? Will Porscheshop fit it? Where are they located?

Cannot find it on Porschshop or DT website - have emailed them for details will keep you posted

Sorry Spizz not been on the forum for a little while.

To date I have had no response to any of my mails to Demon Tweeks etc. If I get a moment I will try and make a few phone calls next week.

Tried to mail B&M in the States but they don't 'do' e-mail...[;)]

Anybody else got any ideas where to get B&M in the UK ?

I tried Tech 9 - but no response. I found a couple of sites which did short shifters for subarus - but non for porsche. Is this a US phenomenon perhaps?

Let me know if you have any luck. I will do likewise.

Demon Tweeks list it in thier 2004 catalogue (and they also had it in the 2003). I have seen (picked up and toouched) the actual item at PCGB events on the PorscheShop stand. Someone should have it?!

Thanks Mark. Will try and check out on line. Will an OPC fit it? Do DT have a fitting service?

Fella's

If you are still interested and there is enough demand, one of my good friends is the President of B&M Racing. I could see what he could do and if people want them, I could get him to send them over for me. Not a lot of use to me as a 993 owner, but I'll guess I'll use my connections and see what can come of it. Let me know your thoughts though...

I do beleive there are other outlets in the UK. And although he's a mate and I know them them well (they are at Autosport this week if anyone is going so you can chat to them there) I have had a B&M shifter (naturally) on a few previous cars and it has always made a hell of a difference. Yes, they are expensive but when you see it and feel it you know why, and the difference is excellent. Pity they don't do one for my car!

Count me in as long as the shipping etc doesn't send the price through the roof. I am assuming that $200 will translate into not a lot less than £200 as it often seems to [:D] whatever the exchange rate. However if you can get a good deal I will drive down to Surrey and buy you a pint..

Anybody else?

I shouldn't be saying this - but dependant on price, I'm interested too (bigger discount for a bulk order? [;)] )

Having read Loren fitting instructions on Renntech and having fitted my Artci Silver centre console myself I am fairly certain I can do it myself. You do however need a cheap tool from an OPC to make sure you line up the shifter properly (sub £10). Whilst I am not a mechanic I am happy to give it a go and buy the tool then pass it on afterwards.

Chaps

I was at Autosport on Friday and spent a lot of time with B&M Racing who had their usual stand there. 996 shifters retail at about £150 or so, but the main distributor of these in the UK is via Eibach (the spring people). Best give them a call in regards to availability, as the three or so people who were interested probably wouldn;t make much of a difference to the cost. All I can say is they are great - I'm bugging them to make one for my 993 as I miss it, having had one in a lot of my previous cars...

The 996 and Boxster use the same part(s).

Interestingly, I know the chap who runs Eibach in the UK...

I'll get on to him and see what he says.[8D]
