New car is wonderful!
Only problem is I can't relax when it is parked anywhere other than my drive. I guess that is natural and should get better with time!

I can empathise with your feelings, it does get better with time - but only slightly, the first few stone chips help[:(]. Also reminding yourself that the reason you bought this car was to experience the thrill of driving it and although it looks good sitting on the drive it is at such times an underutilised asset. It is therefore economically irresponsible not to be constantly thinking of somewhere else that you need to be right now.

Elegantly put!!

I fully empathise - they are there to be driven but none of us want any scraches or stone chips, let alone unwanted attention from some muppet full of the green eyed monster

I picked up a scrapped alloy avoiding an afore said muppet trying to redsignt he side of my car in my first week of ownership.[][][]

However they need to be driven or there is no point having one and it is your duty to drive yours especially in this weather[;)][;)][;)]

Hi
I fully endorse what okellyt says - it us entirely natural to worry about and cosset your new 'baby', as it is a lovely bit of kit and we are all lucky blighters to own one.
However, it is still a car and a method of transport, so don't worry too much about those (inevitable) little marks that will accrue through normal ownership (mindless vandalism aside - may their next poo be a pineapple).

I used to get a bit 'precious' about the porker, but realised that to use it as Herr Porsche intended is the greatest compliment we can all pay our cars, and that means in all conditions, over good roads, bad ones and yes, even the dreaded car park. Mine has a few stone chips on the bonnet and a chip on the edge of the door where it went that extra cm too far and caught a wall. There are also a couple of minor scuffs on the edge of the nearside wheel rims.

But that's the point - they are resilient everyday cars and are famed for their toughness, so I use mine all weathers, every day. Sometimes it looks filthy with road grime, mud and fly-spattered but thats the beauty of Porsches - it takes it all on and just shrugs it off - can't see many Fezzas or lambos looking like that and being used hard every day without complaint[;)]!

Try not to worry about those minor nicks and scrapes - they just add character and show that it's no pampered highly strung objet d'art![:D]

Happy porschering!!
Rob

So just to check here - has anyone not got their 997 with the Bose upgrade?

Also who with a Bose also has the PSE - I am wondering if there is a pattern here based on replies to date

I have Bose but not PSE. I just couldn't rationalise spending so much of my options budget for no performance gain. Used what I saved to fund the adaptive sports seats - knowing that it would be easier to fit PSE than adaptive seats later. No regrets; I think the adaptive seats are comfortable and the inflatable bolsters hold you in position very nicely on the twisty bits plus the fact that the basic C2S soundtrack is not that bad.

I have BOSE and PSE and enjoy both now although...... not sure i've been in a 997 without it so don't really know the difference.

All i can say is that when clients come to me with a shopping list BOSE is almost always on it. IMHO for the cost of upgrade it is worth it.

Having driven plenty of 997's without the PSE - the diffreence is hughe. I only have the PSE off for long motorway cruises, when the cruise control and Bose is engaged to let me while away the hours[8D] until i find a proper country/back road[:D]

Sorry I had meant that I hadn't been in many without BOSE not PSE.
Jamie - I am just commenting that by having both its the best of both worlds
