Bought this .......

I will no doubt learn as some stage who has bought it. I could only think of one scenario ... I could be wrong. Fact still remains a firm deal was done.

I'm a bit sceptical about this whole thread TBH .

Keep checking the calendar - yes its Jan 1 not April 1.......so maybe you are not just winding us all up Des [8|]

Anyway , assuming you already have a blue 964RS , best thing to do is to use it and get a few miles on track , stone chips gravel and all [:D]

I just dont get this keeping the cars polished and mint and original thing .....having watched some of the old Carrera Cup 'banger racing' , that seems to be more what the 964RS is for , innit ???
Spend the money on maxxing out on Spa trips and replacing wear and tear items , get a roof rack fitted and get some slicks fitted to non-mag wheels parked on the top[8D]

John I can assure you it's all true. Having sold the Minty pined for another more useable RS. Found a nice car. Trouble was it was too nice and well behaved. Comfortable factory settings car. Brilliant road car and no doubt in the right hands with 888 on board would deliver on Track.

However I sson realised I would return to something more extreme, with that decision made there was no point putting miles and track days on a virgin no matter how tempting. I thought my quest was found.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear!!

Thing is, when something like this happens, I'm sure it's meant to be ..............and take some consolation that there is something better waiting around the corner.........[:)]

Its never a good feeling when this happens..
BUT i too believe in fate, as Melv has said above...

Des, Sorry to hear that you've lost out on this. I assure you that I have not been involved in it as I knew you were chasing the car. All the best. Paul.

Thanks Paul .... as others have said not to be .... I don't know who bought/brokered it .... but feel very used ... However one moves on, seen another car.

Des, you're looking too hard..............like women, when you stop looking, they all come along......[:D]

I can assure you there has been no shortage in that direction, they seek Carreraboy! Maybe Tim might want some instruction to properly handle the beast....[:D]

There seems to be a trend for younger models in this forum?

In fact it is the opposite of the car hunting!

Something to do with mid life crisis perhaps?

Time is running out Des! ;O)

You need both though, polishers and track adicts. The polishers remind the rest of us what our cars should look, provide a reference point on originality and keep interest in the car through shows and collections. Track addicts are keeping the cars used and seen, even if we know that the paint isn't original, or most of the panels in fact!!! Although I clearly have a track car, I can understand the polisher thing, and love looking at mint cars at shows - things of beauty and something to aspire to.

Edited for spilling.........

Really sorry to hear this Des. I was in there the other day looking at a 997 he had in. I might just pop back in and do some digging for you.

It is a shame when a purchase does not work out as intended and I too agree in fate. I'm sure there will be another one along in a minute. Unfortunately with this particular RS there are three sides to the story. If herr S had not been busy with taking his father in law to hospital the deal would have already been done. If Des had paid more than a 1% deposit and had organised a pre purchase inspection sooner the deal may well have been done of course subject to the imspection. As it is someone was willing to transfer funds immediately without any requirement for an inspection being carried out. So placing yourself in the shoe's of the seller. Would you wait for an inspection to be carried out and run the risk of a haggle on price depending on what was found or would you take the guaranteed sum ?.
As to who said what and who did what. That is between the three and not for discussion.

If the seller had:

1. accepted a deposit, irrelevant of the amount

2. agreed a sale price and

3. agreed to bring the car on a set and agreed date for inspection

then I disagree with you completely.

To then make up some excuse on why you can't get to the agreed inspection meeting (because you are negotiating elsewhere obviously) is dubious morals at best.

And it should be discussed publically because I would never want to buy a car from this seller based on the above. Sorry but in life all you have is your integrity in my book.

Of course if the above 3 points are not actually 'true' (and that doesn't include being wishy washed about to try and make untrue) then I retract it.

Just read this Graeme ... I have categoric evidence, I certainly did hold anything up, far from it your mate started stalling! Plain and simple deal, car bought for £50K Nick was delivering on 29th (his suggestion) with same day inspection at RPM, money then in his pocket. Deposit already paid. Which bit of the above don't you understand.

Had a very interesting chat with Tomas today who owns the car now!

I was going to leave this Thread alone, but you seem very thick skinned and not in touch with reality.

You like an Inspection Graeme, we met at Fearnsport when you were having your GT2 Evo done........................................

Lovely how the deal is now being twisted in my direction!

Speak to Tomas Graeme.

I did not mean to offend you Des and I am certainly not accusing you of dragging your feet. I am just saying that there are three sides to the story. Very often speed is of the essence. You are quit correct that we first met at Fearnsport when they where carrying out a ppi for me on the 993 GT2 evo. There where two other prospective purchasers that where very keen to buy that car. The are three specific reasons that enabled me to buy that particular car.
The first was that Vic, who I owe a debt of gratitude to asked Thomas to allow me first refusal and that he vouched that I would buy that car if it was as described. Quite a tall order for VC as he did not know me very well at that time but I guess he is a good judge of character. Secondly I agreed to pay the asking price. Thirdly the inspection was carried out within three days of the car being made available. Strike whilst the iron's hot as they say.
Now unlike perhaps many of you chaps on here Nick does not know Des from Adam. I have met Des twice and I know he is held in very high regard. A £500 deposit on a £50,000 car is such a relatively small amount for somebody to walk away from. A larger deposit would show a clearer intent. Nick does not have a lot of money and the value of his RS is incredibly important to him. Much more than it would be for me or possibly for many of you. I am in no way maligning Des in anyway, I am just saying that there is a bigger picture.

I entered a contact, no matter how big the deposit was. Nick broke the contract because he received a better offer eventually all round from an originally interested party who he told me was out of the equation. Do you really want me to go into futher detail?

I am happy to move on, and leave the matter. But when you keep coming back defending someone's actions you leave me no option but to put the record straight, why do you do it?

Edited by MS for spillng....

So Des, by selling to Tomas, how much more did he realise over your offer???
