Boxster survey on RMSI

Peter

Pity we are not up to the same 'speed' as American owners are - see http://www.pca.org/tech/tech_qa_question.asp?id={53F9B8B7-8611-42F0-BA34-CF5431CE448F} (KIV you need to cut and paste all the address)

I think they have it about right - certainly much better than us by way of comparison. Hopefully the RMS survey will lead on to the Club taking up like matters with Porsche.

MY02 Boxster S Mileage 14000

I know this is slightly off topic; but I've just discovered that what I thought was a recurrence of the RMS problem is actually a leaking O/S Cam Cover.

UPDATE :

Job done by OPC in quick time; oil leak stopped and all paid for by Porsche GB[:)]

That is what I call good service....even if I did have to push to get it[&o].

I just wonder how many other "RMS" oil leaks have actually been from the cam box cover?

The spots of oil on the garage floor where in a very similar place...just a bit off-centre.

Yup
Returned mine three weeks ago.
Is anyone looking into the nonsense about rusty brake discs on a 9000mile 3.2s ?
Wear and tear?
Not bloody likely !
Cheers
Andrew Munro

Forms gone back to Nic but wanted to add that two weeks after Porsche Clinic, bloomin RMS has gone for the second time in less than a year!

Happy - Not!

Thankfully OPC Colchester are taking it back in this month to re-do it for free - and to give them credit they put in a goodwill claim to Porsche to get it done the first time.

It's just a hassle doing the 100 mile round trip each time.

Thanks for that Dawn - when you collect the car ask them if they will top the tank up in view of your trouble and if they will swop the engine if it goes again - it will be nice to know their response.

You think they'll top up the tank? Not a bad thing in view of petrol prices at the moment but i'd feel a bit cheeky.

Blow it - I have no shame![:D]

In response to the new engine comment I don't understand it fully but one of the American contributers on Boxa has said that they have a tool in America to make sure the crank shaft is properly lined up. If it's not it appears that the RMS can keep re-occuring. In the US they are now replacing engines from what I understand. I may have this wrong though (as i'm not technically minded or in possession of any facts).

Bloomin problem - spoiling what is otherwise a fantastic car!

Some of us think we understand why the RMS fails and also why Porsche replace engines in other countries - however for definite Porsche will know - all we need do (as I see it) is ask them.

BTW does anyone know how our survey is going and what roll out is expected to be?

John

It sounds from your last that the collation of the survey is ongoing - do you know when the cut off date is and how the matter is then to be addressed?

Thanks in anticipation

Nigel,

we have tabulated most survey forms received so far (and it has been a good turn out). We are in process of arranging a meeting with Porsche Cars to discuss. I will reserve the Survey results so we can pay Porsche Cars the courtesy to present to them first. I suspect we will need every ounce of good will to achieve a result.

Good luck Nic,

Whatever the outcome, the membership owes you and the team a very large beer for your time and effort on tackling the subject. It's great to see the owners club championing a consumer issue.

Nick and chums,

Many thanks for the input and fingers crossed that a meeting will start the ball rolling towards what will become a platform for future liaison between all parties to the benefit of both Porsche and owners alike.

Thanks again,

Graeme,

I can email a copy to anyone who needs it, just drop me a line
