Calke Abbey event - 8th Sept 2012

"˜As advertised' in Porsche Post and discussed yesterday at our Sunday meeting, this event, organised by Ken Coad has good potential at a great location.
The intention is (quote) "˜as many Porsches as possible in some form of Register order... an opportunity to meet up, show off their cars, picnic, etc', and a nice drive out for our region.
It's been suggested that we could perhaps meet up and take a run up to Calke - I will discuss with Ken and see if we can possibly be there together as a Region and organise this as appropriate.

See www.nationaltrust.org.uk/calke-abbey for an idea of the place. And... "˜Entry to the venue FREE to attendees and Club members'[;)].

Please show your interest here, so we know how many would like to come![:D]

Hi

Calke is in our region so will make sure all the members know about the date and we will try and get a big turn out.

Cheers

Hi Guys A quick update - The Porsche Rgister Display Day is making progress Heritage Open Days and the national Trust are into promoting the event which takes place on Saturday 8th September at Calke Abbey near Ticknall , Derby. Spaces are reserved for 200 cars. Picture the scene rows of gleaming Porsches lined up and waiting to be admired, all in mint condition with owners on hand to talk about their cars, share enthusiastic stories and answer questions. Entry is FREE a Sponsored Car advisory Service will be on hand with paul Stephens and colleagues leading UK specialists giving valuations advice and model appraisals with expert knowledge from 356's to latest models. The plan is the event will not cost the club, no charge for the site, no charge for publicity and a sponsor to cover admin/ set up. Come and join the jamboree, have a picnic, see the stateley house . deer park and Natural Nature Reserve, only one organiser,to keep costs down your support is urgently required to turn up and advise Club Office you are coming??. That's the way to do it, Ken[;)].
As of today, we have at least ten R10 members interested in coming to this[:D]

LATEST NEWS on this event is that poor ol' Ken has broken his leg!

Not sure what implications this might have for the ongoing organisation of his Calke Abbey event, but will keep you posted.
Hopefully it will go ahead as planned[:)]

Please show your interest HERE if you'd like to meet up on the day (8th Sept) at OPC Silverstone at 7.45am (LEAVING 8am LATEST), with a view to some of us driving up together to this event (It's about a 1.5 hour or so journey, and we could go via a slightly more scenic route than the M1).

I'm almost certain I can make this and am happy to join up for a convoy.

Actually, since you mention that, I could picture Ken on a Maharajah-style/canopied chair atop an elephant[:D][:D]... as long as his mode of transport didn't crush all the cars[:)].

Hi Paul,
Count me in for the Calke Abbey run.
Thank you for helping organise this.
All the best

Manjit
