Castle Combe June 29, 911 50th

A couple of weeks ago I contacted Rodney Gooch at Castle Combe to ask if we could do something special at one of the action days for the 911 anniversary.

My idea was to have a premier stand with 50 911 models for the 50 years and at a time suitable to the organisers be able to do a couple of parade laps.

The event is taking place Saturday June 29 at the Classic and retro action day and there is a possibility of a very reasonable Porsche only track session.

As soon as we have more details they will be posted here.

The more 911`s we can get the better but all Porsches are welcome
I would recommend everyone to get in quick with this one as it will be a memorable event

Both in thanks,

Just to let you all know this is open to all Porsche owners and not limited to PCGB

Of course you can Mick,

That is a good idea about reversing, do you think that will work for the Boxsters[:D]

A Boxster will still be mid engined regardless of direction of travel! [:D]

Thanks for the tickets, see you at club night

Mick

Hi Stuart
Newbie with 4 week old 991, I would appreciate a couple of tickets to this event and I'm planning to be at the March meeting which will be my first PCGB meeting.

Hi Stuart, sounds like a great day - could I get a couple of tickets, please? Thanks and all the best, John

We have just had this email from Castle Combe with confirmation of the details.
There are a few details that I need to check with them but will leave it a couple of days as you are sure to have some other questions.
The usual free passes are not available this time but the entry fee is £3.42 and is explained in the email.

CLASSIC & RETRO ACTION DAY "" SATURDAY 29TH JUNE 2013

50 years of the Porsche 911 Special Feature Parade

We can't compete with Silverstone attracting 911 Porsche 911's, in fact having run a parade last year for 275 Mini's we know logistically it would be almost impossible for us getting the cars on and off the track "" unless we had several hours.

But, we can do it differently, have a little fun and, in our own way celebrate this milestone just as effectively "" but with a major add-on.

It was 1963 when AFN "" the then Porsche importers took over the circuit lease and the company name was established as AFN (Castle Combe) Limited and of course the first time a Porsche ever raced in the UK was at Castle Combe in 1952 so we have history!!!

Whilst we will also be welcoming Porsche clubs for our annual race meeting on Monday 26th August and providing a 2-for-1 ticket offer and reserved parking, we can ensure that on the Action Day we get you out onto the track.

Therefore the proposal is simple. When the car was launched in 1963 the equivalent value of £50.00 then was just £3.42, so if you are a member of either Porsche Club GB or TIPEC you are welcome to apply. For £3.42 you get a bargain. Two admission tickets to gain entry to the Classic & Retro Action Day and a special Parade Pass to participate in the special 50th Anniversary of the 911 at 14:00.

Please note this will be an escorted parade, limited to strictly 50 cars following a pace car at modest speeds "" we will also make sure the pace car is of course a Porsche.

There will also be special reserved area for 50 cars that will participate in the parade.

So please apply through your Club Secretary and, as the supermarkets say, "when the places are gone, then they are gone". But of course additional admission passes and track time can be purchased "" tickets are £12.00 (£15.00 on the day) and track passes £30.00 (£35.00 on the day).

For further details please contact us on 01249 782417 or for online bookings please check out our website at www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk.

We look forward to your visit.

I have just been through the list of members that have shown an interest for this event.
We have 28 cars so far[:)], still short of the 50 but a great response and we really appreciate it, thanks.

Kind regards Elaine and Stuart

I have just emailed all of region 16 with the details below. Any other members are most welcome but spaces are going fast.

Castle Combe Classic and Retro Action Day June 29

A fantastic response to this event has been made by our members and it is sure to be a memorable day. The provisional list has a total of 33 cars and TIPEC have aprox 15 so we are close to the limit.
We have invited OPC Bristol to join us and they are bringing 3 cars.

Castle Combe have asked us to do a group booking so they can post the tickets to me, for distribution to you.

Some of you asked to be put on the list before Castle Combe confirmed the details so if you can re confirm that you DEFINITELY want a ticket then I can order them this week to hand out at club night if you are there or post to you if not.

The main details are

Ticket price £3.42 for 1 car and 2 people
Entry for the Porsche only parade track session (at modest speed)
A special reserved area for our cars

As the parade laps are at modest speed you will not need a crash helmet and passengers are welcome.
There is no obligation to take part in the parade if you so wish.
You do not have to be there at the crack of dawn but if you could make it in plenty of time for the parade session that starts at 14.00

Regards Stuart
