I couldn't resist putting a picture of Beaky up in all his glory [:D]

Did anyone else have problems with their bulbs? Mine didn't fit as the pips on the bulb shaft weren't in line, as the originals were, but off of centre by about 10 deg.

There are actually 2 sorts of amber 21w bulb available - Halfrods may simply not be aware, though they should be, and should stock both.

Bulb code 343 is the one with the pips symetrical, simply an amber version of the clear flasher bulb that's been around since the year dot, and the version which will fit our cars.

Bulb code 581 looks the same but has the assymetrical pips - introduced latterly to prevent clear bulbs being put where an amber one should fit. These won't fit the holder but can be made to by filing off one of the pips. Unfortunately for us it's the one they will most likely have as they are for current vehicles.

I don't know what sort the expensive silver-coated bulbs are, but if there's a choice the 343 is a type BA 15s cap and the 581 is a type BAU 15s.

(anorak mode off).

Finally, thanks Fen for arranging all of this.

Okay John, what polish?

Looks really nice (and new looking).

Indicators are making me jelous (spellnig?). They take years off the front end!

Spoiler looks good too, but I would just be scraping my really sloping drive with it[].

Captain Beaky looks pretty fetching these days.

....and they say that photos never lie! [;)] Thanks Fen, but it's all smoke and mirrors. You can't see the pebble dash effect across the front in the pictures.

I tend to catch it on the ramp comming into our close. I have to stop just at the edge of the curb and then pull away hard so as to lift the front as I go over the curbing - the neighbours love me!

Polish is (I think) Turtle Wax gold series carnuba wax, applied fairly frequently, over an Incero Limousine Wax base. The Limousine wax is superb but very, very hard work to get a good finish. The Turtle Wax is much easier, but doesn't last as long.

Thanks John - Might give it a try. Any idea where you get it from (the Incero that is!)

As for my drive, I have to go reaaaaaally slowly into the garge, as the undertray hits the concrete otherwise.

Strangely, my BMW bottoms out on the driveway lip, but the Porsche doesn't as it has a shorter wheel base. All to do with the length of the curb you see. Good excuse to change it for another 944 methinks...........

PS - Up here a "curb" is also a young Scout type, so I want to make it clear that I don't run over small children coming onto my drive[:D]

Incero waxes and cleaning stuff are now available through the Club shop. The wheel cleaner is suposed to be especialy good as it works without eating your wheels.

I went along to the local Max Power purveyor to get some Silvertechs, knowing there were 2 types, checked the ones he gave me and still got the wrong ones

Anyway, easily changed.

Anyway, easily changed.

From what eitnurg is saying, and it makes sense, you can't get Silvertech bulbs to fit our holders - they don't do them with the pips in line so as to stop people fitting the "wrong" bulbs.

I think you will either have to resort to the BFI method (Brut Force & Ignorance) or the more subtle filing off one of the nipples method. I favoured the latter as I can see the BFI method ending in tears should you ever need to remove the bulb.

Sorry John, what I mean was, I popped back and changed them for a set with 180 degree pins - Not Silver Tech but they do the job [:D]

After leaving the rear lense's over night to cure, there solid so the glue seems to have done the trick, it also stated that it is water proof and has a tensile strength of 4000psi once set. so im made up thanks FEN once again, and my fingers are starting to heal as well[:D]

OK I'm realy envious now I want some of these clear lenses front & back. If anyone else wants to get some too then I will organise another group purchase.

you can get the fronts from www.design911.com but there a lot more pricey than what FEN get them for, the side repeaters are easy to come by, but the rears, well up to now i have never seen them adertised. however there is a place by merryhill which will coat the rears so they appear completly red but will work as normal other than that its turnaclear. And i for one can say with complete confidence it has made a world of difference to the car, somthing so little has made such a big visual difference. Graeme your fairly local if you fancy popping across to have a look in the flesh you are more than welcome i live in Penkridge.

Luckily my car is white.... upon which the clear lenses look GAF (IMHO). Orange lenses rule! [8D]

Think I will stick to origional lenses too - as my car will stand out from the rest with orange lenses [:D][:D]

Just took the car in to the local specialist for a service and the owner commented on how well the car was looking - really liked the clear lenses and hadn't seen an S2 with them until today [:D]
