Cheese hole run.. 29th August

Yes indeed, another fun weekend and once again thanks the Gary and Jo for all the effort they put in.
Gary's drives are usually a challenge at some point or another and the efforts to regroup were valiant and amusing in equal measure. There were times when I think I was talking to Gary on the walkie talkie(out of range) and the others behind on the telephone(they weren't listening) and, as has been mentioned, trying to get something useful in the sat nav.
Great fun also today at Castle Combe with some entertaining racing and nice to meet up with our newest 997 register member Penelope Pitstop.

Gary , Jo,
Thanks for another fun weekend both yesterdays drive and todays racing gave us lots to think about, quite how Porsche get over the tyre situation I don't know but 1 thing for sure with no spare tyre and very very limited supply of tyres something needs to be done, I don't like run flats but at least you don't end up stranded and now having witnessed 2 flats this weekend and 1 last year in wales each time no tyre was available and the cars had to be recovered, this must be very expensive for Porsche and surely arranging a supply of tyres around the dealerships should be a must if as a manufacturer you take the decision to let your buyers drive on a wing and a prayer.
Anyway hopefully both Gary and Ian manage to source tyres quickly and at reasonable cost, as an aside Gary the amount of dust and muck you threw up together with Jo's quick caution on the radio probably saved me from a similar fate so thanks even though its probably not much consolation.
It was nice to see some new faces and hopefully they will get involved in the future.
Thanks again

Geoff

[:(] I didn't take that many....
Sadly a few gaps where some had to shoot off..

Yes, a big Hi to PP, lovely to meet you

Well at least I made some peoples days today, well I gather that from the amount of people gleaming out of their windows at me as they passed on the motorway [&:]

You have to love the public for a bit of sympathy... not!

What a fabulous day....the weather was great, the racing was superb , the drive down and home was awesome and.....I met some lovely people.........who could ask for more..

Thanks to you all for making me feel so very welcome today.....so lovely to put faces to names and pictures of cars!!

I look forward to the next social!

PP xx

Thanks to Gary and Jo for a great weekend (and sorry about your tyre troubles etc), it was great to be able to socialise with the 997 register again and meet some new faces. Some very interesting driving and my car did a great job of levelling all those random piles of horse poo down to a nice consistent 1.5 inches!! We thoroughly enjoyed the racing on Monday, and were very impressed by how fast a track marshall can actually run up a very steep grassy slope when pursued by an Aston Martin...... All the best, John and Pam

Just for those who are no doubt extremely concerned as to my fate, well probably the cars fate!
thanks for the letters of condolance flowers tributes memorials poems and cnn news bulletins!
No tyres avail at pro sport at Cas Coo on Sunday none around other than bridgestone rears i need mich
and for Gary Mich fronts he needs B stones!
John n I got a loan car dropped off a salt pot Citroen (Saxo) dropped off a 51 plate white with black wheel trims i mite add!
and we sped, ye,s sped up the fosse way (v max 59.99mph) en route we overtook a white gt3 sy ril which was at the porsche area at cas coo ah! the joy!!
got home about 8.30pm porsche coming up today unlike Gary I did not have the indignancy of being seen in the passenger seat of the recovery truck with pride and joy on the back even turbo ted popped his head out of the window and asked for asylum to Yorkshire as they left the c park !!
On reflection
We thoroghly enjoyed the trip despite the tyre issue(s) john loved the "scene" and yet again you meet as strangers and leave as friends
thanks Gary for the organisation and support

For once I have not been airbrushed out of the photo - well it is a 4 wheel drive turbo!! I am awaiting Porsche assist to recover my car to the dealer for repair to my expolding battery.

Thanks Gary & Jo for Sunday, as ever brilliantly organised.

Another superb trip for which many thanks to Gary and Jo. You'll be pleased to know that Andrew is now swaying towards the purchase of a 911, having experienced some spirited driving in a porsche convoy over the weekend and then witnessing how an Aston can fare on a high speed corner! Hope both you Gary and Ian get your tyres sorted promptly-seems to me I'd better get looking for a set of new michies for mine which I'll need after I've finished off the current set at Goodwood on 9th October. Anyone else going to this trackday? Regards to all fellow cheese hole participants-thanks for your company and a great couple of days enjoying our cars[:D] Mike.

Along with everyone else many thanks to Gary & Jo for organising the event and all the hard work that went into a most enjoyable weekend.

Hope all those with tyre problems are back on the road soon none the worse for the experience.

Great to catch up with everyone and to help Clive send the Remy to a good home....[8|]

Hope to see everyone soon[:D]

Catching up after a mad couple of days, didn't get the camera out at all this weekend, but thanks to Gary and Jo as always for sorting out another fun run. Good racing on Monday too, though I chickened out of entering the Concours when I got home on Sunday night and looked at the amount of farmyard detritus under the wheelarches. With no hosepipe at the new house, cleaning out that lot was a non starter!
