Clarkson in a 944 turbo

We just got the second GTR episode (at Suzuka) this week - how many weeks behind are we here?

Great clip, but I reckon Jezza's 944T needs some tweaking if it will only do 150, or is it because it's red [:D]. The comparison with the Cosworth is interesting, I owned a tweaked 3 door for 13 years and whilst the straightline performance is similar the cars are chalk and cheese everywhere else.

Pauly, from your signature I see that in your weekends you are a Romper suit wearing Power-ranger!

[:D] Yep it's true, but I usually wait until the poseurs have gone home for tea so I can have the roads to myself, changing the subject is Scott Wood your real name ?, sounds like a 70s porno monicker to me [;)].

Hi Fen,

That's the back end of the last series I think, so you're only a couple of episodes, but several months, behind.

You might well be right. I think it's something like the 4th in this series, and something gave me the impression it was one that started in late summer however. I forget what the first episode was, but it has included the GTR vs public transport race across Japan and the week before that the 3 Alfas and 8C.

With reference to your previous post I take back what I said about modified 944s not being TGs thing to some degree - I had forgotten about some of the articles you highlighted and I haven't seen some of them. There is always the chance that an old 944 Turbo which JC likes showing up one of Porsche's latest models might appeal enough to get it on camera as well.

It was in one of his blogs on the top gear site a few months ago that JC was singing the 44 turbo's praises, saying that one would be in his ten car garage of the best cars he has ever driven. Probably around the same time he was filming the new DVD

I think part of his 'hatred' of all things 911 is just part of the banter he has going with Hammond. Im pretty sure i have seen him testing one a few years ago and he loved it!!

I reckon a feature showing 20 odd year old 944 turbo's showing up the modern machinery would be right up his street. It has to be done[:D]

Exactly, and I'd be really interested to see how fast the Stig could get my S2 round their track. Would be nice if it could see off at least some modern machinery.

Geek hat on here: Series 11, episode 5 - [&:] - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Top_Gear_episodes

Thanks. You were indeed correct then - I wonder if we will go straight into series 12 here or have a break. I see "our" last episode was the last of the new 2 driver format for the Star in a piece of cheap Jap tat feature.

"The Tiff" on 5th Gear did a feature on the 944 turbo and concluded it by saying he wouldn't mind having one now.

He used to race them and had one as a `company` car, still raves about them and rates them even today. He`s a proper enthusiast/driver, always entertaining and genuinely informative and sorely missd (by me at least) on TG.

Yeah but he's getting a bit boring with all the powersliding on 5th gear though. He's turned into driving journalisms equivalent to Basketballs Harlem Globetrotters. Waste of his talents.

I think Tiff's biggest problem is that he lacks... a personality.

I've never really understood why from the masses of retired successful-but-not-top-flight racing drivers around he is the one that got and held on to a TV presenting job, unless of course the rest of them are all even worse. Something that, if the case, TG got around beautifully with the whole Stig concept.

I actually think Jason Plato runs rings round him for presenting (despite being a bit wooden himself), but then I don't watch 5th Gear as (despite VBH, who is like Marmite in polarisation of opinion, but on whom I definitely belong to the "mmmmmmm" camp) I lost all respect for it after it unashamedly ripped off the TG format in that awful series from their "office", and they have that awful Chewbacca bloke on it - who the Hell is he?

I can't for the life of me see anything remotely attractive about her and when she puts on that horrible laugh, yuk. Suzi Perry is another that I couldn't, even with my 10 pint beer goggles on, and allegedly she put's it about quite a lot.

I had to Google her, and no, she does nothing for me at all.

Continueing with presenters what about Penny Mallory ?, no raving beauty but apparently she swings both ways. [:D]

This has gone somewhat off-topic, but I have to agree with you there. I see your Kirsty Gallagher and raise you Gabby Logan.
