Collected today: Carrara White 997 Turbo S

ORIGINAL: Z80
The decals on the side were a bit of a gamble but thought the 911 GTS & GT2RS ones looked good. None available for the Turbo S from Porsche but Colin at swiftsigns did a very good job.
There goes the warranty!

PDK is Ok I suppose but I'll need to get used to it, preferring a manual box that's been in all the other ones.
Push the stick over to the left and drive it in manual all the time.

Abso-bl**dy-lutely! The only way to go - and don't forget the Sport or Sport +(although you don't get the 7th gear with that) button to sharpen up the change too [:)]

To add to everyone Else's praise - it looks the mutts nuts[:)][:)][:)]

While very happy for you, I am also deeply envious at the same time.

Ah well, one day............

Thanks for your comments everyone.

The Keeping of the Driving Licence is the next project.

Too right [:-] I've never driven a car before with such deceptive performance. Even a simple overtake can easily see 3-figure speeds, yet it remains completely composed and stable.

Comparing the Turbo and GT3 is fruitless - they may share a similar silhouette, but there are notable differences and contrasting qualities and characteristics - although, IMO, the latest Turbo does feel more involving with more feedback. Arguing which is 'better' is like trying to argue the case for a business jet or a turbine helicopter - obviously you need both [;)]

I do miss the GT3, but I am really enjoying the Turbo S. And, fortunatley, I still have an 'old school' 911 to tingle the senses.

I have to agree with all the coments it does look fantastic I think white would be my 2nd choice.
The seats do set the interior off a treat, good choice I think that's the best combination.
Be very careful with the solid front splitter although its probably a little bit higher than mine it most certainly is not as forgiving as black rubber and at £1k a throw it gets very expensive very quickly take it from me.

A fantastic car.

Must say I admire your taste, especially the interior! Hope the additional weight of the sunroof doesn't blunt the performance too much.

I have now had a reasonable amount of seat time in mine and find it peerless in all road going categories. Ballistic when overtaking, utterly decisive when you want to lose a tailgater on the Autobahn, fun but secure through the Alps and comfortable and quiet when Mrs Lowndes wants to discuss where to stop for the night. And cheap to run too. The car I mean!

Though not to everyone's taste I find PDK excellent and am fascinated by its ability to change down in anticipation of the road ahead and get it right 90% of the time. Not sure I'm that good!

OK I wouldn't make it the track weapon of choice but that is not why I bought it. All other boxes get a double tick.

Enjoy yours and hope you sort the boost display problem, presumably the boost itself is present and correct!

Nick

Looks great and makes the wait for mine now more exciting

I have gone for the same colour ie carrara white but have gone for the full aerokit, the cabon race seats with a plain black interior and full gloss black wheels

I also like the discreet turbo s door badge, where did those come from please?

Arrival day mid November

Hi Grover,

The Turbo S door badges came from www.swiftsignsbristol.co.uk.

Speak to Colin. he went to great lengths to get the size & style right.

Cheers,

Greg

Only a week old. Cleaned up lovely though!

Not a car to be kept in the garage...[;)]

Hi Gary. Yep, got Sue's message and had some interesting correspondence with BBC after. Basically they needed it for several quarter mile dashes. I said that they could poodle around in it or have it in the studio, but not that happy on Hammond maxing it with 100 miles on the clock. They understood and have made plans elsewhere as filming was this week. Did I miss a chance to immortalise the car or was I sensible?

By the way, had trip down to Isle of Wight last weekend for first decent run out. Now 400 odd miles on clock. But, how utterly bonkers is the turbo S's performance?!!! It is just astonishing compared to outgoing 997.1 C4S cab. Had the usual rash of heroes trying their luck, but demolished all comers and not pushed anywhere near hard. Trying to keep below 4k rpm[:(]. Seem to have found best format of sport mode and manual most rewarding, but not relaxing for motorways though. Carbon sport seats superbly comfortable. Have noticed big mpg difference though. All back in garage like mint again waiting for next time!!
