You know all those little jobs that you meant to do over the warm summer months and never did !?

Well now its time to face the music and 'fess up'[;)]

heres my list of jobs I never did .
1. LH indicator switch not returning (3 years now ) [:(]
2. Clock LCD faulty
3. Tracking needs doing
4. Belts and waterpump
5. rust to cills
6. new sunroof seal
7. Service
8. dash light switch pushed into dash
9. Alternator bearing duff
10 Driving light replace bulb
 
Yes. Get my damn ignition box sorted so I can drive her again! (oh and re-align the bonet after the bodyshop seem to have failed to get it back on straight!
 
Fix passenger outside door handle
Fit new outside temp sensor
Renew cargo cover
New tailgate gas struts
Passenger headlight levelling motor

At least the not done list is smaller than the done lol [:D]
 
Sunroof mechanism on the 220 and sort the assocaited trim covering it.
Change marked/scratched NS Window glass, knock a CS Stylee rear shelf up and remove rear seat tops Turbo S.

Bought some more spares so the list has got bigger for next warmer days, one is to change the exhaust amnifold on 1 & 4 with a later expansion bellows type which i have sitting in my box of bits.
 
Heated seat has a mind of its own if it works or not.
Head-light washer not working.
Change thermostat so it warms up faster in a moring rather than taking 15mins.

Anyway with the snow we have it wont be moving for a few days.

 
Still doesn't go any faster and wheels not refurbed.
But ABS fault fixed, bodywork tidied, front splitter sourced and fitted so not too bad.
Currently given up daily duty to the rangie for obvious reasons.
 
There's always something, isn't there?

I meant to investigate why one of the sunroof raising arms is a bit wobbly (causes the roof to open slightly and whistle at high speeds) and why one of the electric motors in my driver's seat isn't working any more. Haven't done either yet.

I also meant to wash it "¦
 
Replace sunroof seal
Investigate a rattle from the bottom of the passenger seat
Improve the front speakers
Get some of the nastier marks out of the boot carpet
Replace O/S wishbone (but, in fairness, I only found out that the balljoint there was duff at the MOT in September.)

Think that's about all ... 'tis a depressing thread, for sure ...

LOL with 11 cars to look after ops now 10 sold one.. I have a list as long as the euro tunnel [:D]

One job at a time.. i am still work out side on the cars in the work shop so bits are still coming along on the 65 car but the 44 is just sat there resting.. I did take it for a quick run the other day but she really was not happy starting ( battery ) and it's new I guess the cat 1 alarm drains it so I better boost it up abit I guess before the alarm goes off for low battery I had that with a Corrado 10 yeas ago 3am stuffing my pillow in to the engine bay grrr [:D]
 
sort out non functioning rear wiper
work out why rear screen defrost doesn't work - guessing they're both down to no power
drivers side window doesn't work
suspect the radio's not connected to the aerial since the CD player works

Since buying it in July I've had:
new suspension bushings,
new radiator
steering u-joint
water pump
thermostat
belts
oil seals
new set of tires
service

it's worked out to be a pretty expensive little car so far. I've got nowhere to work on the car myself so this was all done at an independent. However, I'm consoling myself with the theory that all of that lot + the purchase price is still less than a years depreciation on a new car. It's also had most of the scary stuff done now and as a result it's basically mechanically sound. touches wood...

Yes, they are expensive to run occasionally. But if you own it for a decent length of time then it averages out at something rather more reasonable (you will have good years and bad years.)

And, yes, the depreciation is minimal. And the car, for the money, is superb ....

100% I agree that it's superb for the money!

When I said expensive, I should probably have clarified that it was expensive in comparison to what I had been expecting. In absolute terms it's a bargain and I don't regret any of the money i've spent on it. I bought a car that had some deferred maintenance issues. Now those are dealt with and it drives as nicely as it looks.

Yes, they are expensive to run occasionally. But if you own it for a decent length of time then it averages out at something rather more reasonable (you will have good years and bad years.)

And, yes, the depreciation is minimal. And the car, for the money, is superb ....

the two i didnt do were;

change gearbox oil
replace oil pressure sender

but i did;

replace rotor arm and distributor cap
oil and filter change
removed, cleaned and refitted rear spoiler
removed and resealed the rear lights
removed the corrosion around the tailgate
resprayed part of tailgate
resprayed drivers side rubbing strip
fitted new headlamp bulbs
fitted a rear number plate bracket
fitted a new rear hatch seal
fitted new hatch pins
replaced clock bulb with LED
fit a new stereo

for me htats pretty good going :) Good thing is it still feels more like a hobby than a chore. I miss those warm summer days :D

New door seals/window seals/window scrapers
Secure bridge spoiler/cure hatch squeaks
Column switch replaced
Mirror glass replaced (not heating)
Re-seal rear light clusters
Central locking connecting rod
Nightbreaker bulbs for headlights

A fair old chunk done, sure there was more!

A bit of a difficult exercise, this ... to remember the things I never did because I always forget about them as soon as I get out of the car :
- the inside rear view mirror shakes when driving on poor roads
- driver's door hinges have some play and give the car the feel of an old shed when getting in and out.
- figure out once and for all why the driver's inner door panel is responsible for wind noise unless the window is very slightly tilted down.
- fix the under bonnet light that works at random
- get the headlights to work like... headlights (!)


 
Ah ha you have just reminded me of one I keep forgetting every time I get out of the other car! Thank you.
 
I've only had my 944 since the end of Oct and so far have worked out i need to do:

buy and fit n/s fog
buy and fit crack sidelight clear n/s lense
service
wheel alignment check
get steering wheel re-leathered
replace all speakers to something decent
replace headunit to something up to date
change to better headlight bulbs and sidelights
get the rear window dimister to work
fit new engine mounts which i've just ordered
fit exhaust backbox which i'm waiting to come in the post


Things i've done already

clutch slave replaced
original gear knob sourced and fitted
source and fitted passenger sunvisor
replaced dash dials with white LED lights (well impressed with the look)
clean cuortesy light lense and fit a ice white LED light (well impressed again)

I used to buy cars and keep them like you but then one day I met my current partner who said why don't you sell all that junk and buy one really nice car . So I did.! best driving day of my life when i went to pick that car up and drive it 150 miles home.

Its a disease and i'm already hankering after a Aston DB9 and ..............
 
Did lots of stuff this year, including sills and the biggest oil leak, but didn't get around to:

Re-bushing front ARB (An advisory on last year's MoT, but not this year's!!)
Sorting little rust spots around rear number plate lights
Changing the Thermostats, regretting it now
Fixing the other 5 or 6 minor oil leaks (cheaper to keep pouring oil in the top....)
Changing stereo head unit for Bluetooth/USB one
Changing steering wheel & Gear Knob
Sorting gouge on FP where scrote tried to lever the badge off
Changing the P6000s on the front
A better fix on the headlining after fixing the sunroof drain pipes
Fixing the Driver's Windscreen wiper...rubber band still holding arm on, with a spare in the glove box!
