Ahhh missed Bonnet Struts! If I fix them I won't have to carry the lump of wood in the back to wedge under the existing saggy struts.....

congratulations !..... you have now discovered the wonder of 'LISTS' [:D][:D]

from now on all you need ever do is update and prioritize your 'LIST' every day and you need never actually 'do' anything [;)]

Another new one to add after today: Drivers door handle sticks when squeezed, doesn't spring back until you slam the door shut..not a biggie but an annoyance!

That one's easy!

- Take door handle off (one screw, on door shut)
- Clean the crud off the handle with some WD40 (or similar)
- Apply a very light trace of very light oil (everyman or similar)
- Re-attach handle to door

Given your bravery in doing the brake calipers in the cold, this one will be a doddle for you! [:)]

Oli.

Thanks Oli!
Will have a crack at it over the weekend
I sorted the hatch release over the weekend as well, that had got very, very stiff and I thought I was going to break the key at one point

rear screen replacement.

There do seem to be a lot of people on here who are meaning to do belts ... either we are an over-cautious lot with a long to-do list, or there are a lot of 944's around with old belts on them.

Which is it?

Oli.

um...

1. get car out of storage...check
2. put up on axle stands...check
3. remove engine and rebuild....arse
4. everything else that goes wit the above....arse

ah well...there's always next year........

I'm guessing that we're over-cautious. Every year, I ask my usual mechanic to "˜do the belts' when he's servicing the car. Every year so far he's said "I checked the belts, no need to worry about them yet."

- Cure oil blockage
- Belts and water pump
- Oil cooler seals
- Put engine back in car
- New brakes
- New windscreen
- Sort out dodgy fibreglass front bumper
- Driver's seat belt
- New wipers
- New shocks front and back

In other words enough to keep me busy for a while longer. Still it's been off the road for 10 years, a little while longer won't hurt.

forgot about the bonnet struts, and one of the motors in the drivers seat aint working., oh, and replace the boot lock seal too :)

erm, think thats it, for noo anyhoos...............................[:D]

Talking of struts since when did a proper pair of rear hatch struts cost so much? £70!!

Anyone bought any any cheaper recently that have the correct electrical connections?

Yep - £15 each for OEM struts at Promax and I can happily report my heated rear window has been utilised fully this week (oh and the boot light works too)

Considering everything I've done to it so far it isn't very much at all. If I didn't mind my fingers falling off or my bank account being wiped out I could get it done fairly swiftly but then its maiden voyage would be in the current fine weather which I don't fancy much.

I'll carry on the previous pace of it'll be done when it's done. It's only taken 2 years so far, what's another eh? ;)
