CRISIS talks

LBD

New member
I have just heard that one of our long standing members is resigning from membership. A member who has regularly been awarded Member of The Year.

This is as a result of the recent requests for our RO and ARO to communicate with the members as to the Club Night Venues and format and having been totally ignored. (probably not soley that but a few other factors too)

Might I suggest that we hold a meeting to air our views on this as a group (east and west in the same room).

Could we do next Thursday night? Dakota Eurocentral?

Think we need to do this soon before we loose more great members as a result of this fiasco.

Names below and note down any points you may want to be discussed.

  • Alison - Club Venues, How we choose our RO, Forming a Club Committee.

AK, can't make next Thursday, and I'm sure everyone knows my views anyway!!!
I don't think that will be the last member not to renew membership if this 'head in the sand' ignorance continues.

Kim

Sorry, I can't do next Thursday. Like Kim my thoughts are well known and my renewal request arrived yesterday.

Thinking about it.

I am indeed contemplating leaving the club after 15 years , I have spent some 6 years as RO and never experienced so much unrest in all my days .I have sent emails before to both Alan and Ash and also some today outlining my concerns and that of the members I hasten to add I am not the spokesperson for the members just pointing out what has been said at various venues and meetings .I have no interest in becoming RO or taking on any committee role but would lend my support to whomever was at the helm as I have always done I cannot make Thursday as I have another commmitment on that night . I will be contacting HQ to let them know of my descision so will keep you informed .
This is afterall a car club and I wish to enjoy my car especially as it is costing me ÂŁ400 in road fund licence[:D][:D] ouch !!

Sorry, I'm off on hols next Thursday, but here are my thoughts ...

I have no problem with the idea of BOTH informal and formal meetings, and indeed I applaud Alan for taking the bull by the horns and organising a central meeting point to bring east and west together, Lord knows we have spent years discussing the idea. Sadly it was not implemented very tactfully, which is almost forgiveable. What is NOT forgiveable though is for Alan to now stick his head in the sand and refuse to discuss this issue with anyone. There is more to being an RO than just organising things and putting a note in the PP.

I'd also like to pose a few questions about the "Tour of the North" in August. This seems to be a major event, yet seems to have had very little promotion to R1 members, but there are seemingly only a few places left. Who exactly has been invited and how, and how is this being financed?

That's funny, my renewal notice arrived yesterday too. I'm not sure whether to pay up for another year or not "¦ Sixty quid is far from being a trivial amount to hand over, when I don't think much of Porsche Post magazine and I haven't taken part in a single club event (monthly meetings excepted) over the past 12 months.

It might be worth pursuing where the R1 funds are going to come from if none of use renew memberships.

Mine is due in July and will resign with reasons to Chris Clark.

Me too John. I have had comments on this is where all the R1 funding goes and it is for friends and family! Mugabe it must be!

Before this go,s on to page 6 ! ,I thought I would have my say, being fairly new to the club (2007), I went to my 1st meeting at the Dakota last year and was made more than welcome by all there , since then only info has come via Scott and other non PorscheGB committe members.
I was not aware of any of the politics before this ,thats for work not my social time.
I paid my money but still not recognised on the forum as a member , I went to the 1st meeting at the River House to give it a chance and if the RO was there he did not make him self knowen to any new faces.
I have not received any e-mails from the RO informing me of any events , I only find out about them in the Post when they are past.
Is the RO Lord Luccan!

Andy

PS good company again on Thursday at the Dakota

How sad that what used to be a simpleish region, do do do do ( back in time music ) 1st Tues Sherbrooke , tracknights - the griff , Euro tours - Boydy Treasure hunt and a concours , Xmas dinner, small boys - jumpers for goalposts,
Perhaps the rose tints should come off but after returning to a wee pint and a chat recently on Tues nothing seemed hellishly wrong with what we had.
Back to 2008 , 1st Tues Sherbrooke and thu Dakota, Gordo giving us track time alerts , both local and euro, the odd treas hunt or weekend drive and our own Xmas do.I don't think we need Stephen Hawkings to organise this,
so lets not resign and give up the excellent magazine l

Lets just do what scottish entrepreneurial spirit has always done .. just sort it oursel

Perhaps a vote of NO confidence??

It is such a shame that this issue has been ongoing for the last 3 months and still Mr Seadon has not taken the time and courtesy to you get in touch with both the Sherbrooke and the Dakota crowd to sort this mess out and to let people air their views to him and even perhaps resolve this situation!!!! He is not gaining new members now, but loosing existing ones. Mike, you can't blame people for not wanting to renew or join as AS has never attended Dakota or Sherbrooke and by the looks of things, has a clique of people that he looks after rather than looking after the Scottish Region as a whole.

Ash, if you read this, I know you're trying but I think you're getting nowhere just like the rest of us.

It is such a pity.................bring back Brian and Greig anyday.
(Dakota car club rools!!) [;)][;)][;)]
Kx

Indeed not getting anywhere.....though I might just look somewhere else - lol. getting sick of people saying they've been contacting me etc...... I've spoken to Alan....I don't enjoy these gossips and morale anymore than the rest of you. In my remaining term I will try and bring value and support to whoever wants to do something constructive rather than backstab......Please DON'T drop my name in this Riverside vs Dakota issue anymore...It's out of my hands. You can contact Alan or Club Office directly....Thank you for your understanding.

Right Thursday looks unlikely, understandably as we are all busy Bee's!

If you haven't already stated your opinion above, or feel that you would like to reinforce this, email me at ladykilgour@hotmail.co.uk and I will collate our thoughts and issue formally to the Club Office.

AKx

BRILLIANT!!! I just logged into the all new all singing, dancing members login area (as we have been advised that this will be where details of all events will be placed and advertsised and not on the Forum!!). I looked up "Tour of the North" and guess what it says....................

Yeah ... under the Irish section news []

Hi all, please forgive a soft "Southerner" gatecrashing your forum! [:)]

Martyn Molyneaux has asked me to post the following message from the Board regarding the Scottish region.

The Board are aware of the situation and take it very seriously; they request members not to resign without giving them a chance to resolve the issues. However if anyone wishes to step forward to take on the RO's position then they are invited to contact Chris Clark at regional@porscheclubgb.com. Chris will provide replies after his return from Le Mans.

I know that the board have been working ridiculous hours on Club business since the AGM, and its easy to forget that they have jobs and lives outside the Club. I hope you all choose to wait until Chris is back and try to resolve the issues with him rather than leaving. It seems there's a lot of enthusiastic people in your region, it's a shame to lose it!

Thanks, I'll get back to the 944 forum and shut up now. [:D]
