ORIGINAL: LBD

Right Thursday looks unlikely, understandably as we are all busy Bee's!

If you haven't already stated your opinion above, or feel that you would like to reinforce this, email me at ladykilgour@hotmail.co.uk and I will collate our thoughts and issue formally to the Club Office.

Alison,

Can make the River House if that's better for you than Dakota on Thursday? ;O)

The Board are aware of the situation and take it very seriously; they request members not to resign without giving them a chance to resolve the issues. However if anyone wishes to step forward to take on the RO's position then they are invited to contact Chris Clark at regional@porscheclubgb.com. Chris will provide replies after his return from Le Mans.

Some people lead, and other people follow. In this case Charles, I'm happy to follow!

Hi All

As you all know I have been most concerned at the terrible state the Club has become over the last few years.

We are fortunate to have a new Board under the Chairmanship of Martyn Molyneaux, himself a Regional Organiser.

Please give the new Board the chance to get their feet under the table and sort the inherited mess out, please do renew your Membership as I feel we all need to do our bit, and you cannot help if you are not part of the Club!

I and others have offered our services to the Board if required and will hope that everybody else will join us in this crusade.

REMEMBER..... have fun[:D]

Helen, is there something you want to tell us??
You're more than welcome in helping us up here!!! A bit far but none the less, your help is better than no help and I'm sure that rings true for all regions.[;)]

i'd be up to scotland in a flash given a chance.

scotlands got to be one of my favourate places on earth. you have everything.. you just have to travel to find each item. so what better place to own a Porsche [8D]

This thread must be one of the best adverts for not joining the club.
There always seems to be a rebellion going on in one region or another.
Colloc
Non member and staying that way

I had, and have, serious concerns re. the management of messages on the forum - however if we are going to have " heavy enforcement " of Forum rules as headlined then surely this is a case where the thread should be moved to the members only section?

Hi Andrew,

I guess that's up to the region members to decide, it's not breaking any of the forum rules as far as I can see. I'm happy to move it if you all want me to!

I think it's more a reason why Region forums should be members-only. There's a good argument for Registers being open to all, but I can't see the benefit of non-members in the Region area. If they need the details of local region contacts etc. that's for the website to provide.

Feedback please! [8|]

Hi Colin,

I'm sorry you see it that way. When you have 16000 members of any Club there will always be some degree of friction, personality clash, or many other forms of disagreement.

It's good that the members feel strongly enough to fight for their Region, I think that makes them come across as a bunch of enthusiasts I'd be very willing to get to know if I lived a bit nearer! A region would be very boring indeed if everyone was the same.....

Paul,

Reason for my comment was re. washing our dirty linen in public which appears to have been one of the causes for concern expressed in the past.

Your suggestion of making Regional forums members only sits well with me, but if we do this then the offering on the website must be easily accessible and user friendly to encourage non members to come along.

Ideal solution of course is for these situations not to occur in the first place !!

this is the forum of the porsche Club GB - one would expect the people posting on the forum to be members ! I am all for people accessing the web site where they are considering joining, but for Non members to be posting, or worse still, be slagging the club or other members off is unacceptable !

i would keep the forums for the members, there are plenty of other porsche forums available for people that are not interested in the club !

I couldn't disagree more strongly with your view Scott. I think it is this sort of attitude which is seen as `eliteist' by many non members and members alike. A case of `them and us'

I agree its not helpfull to `air your dirty washing in public' and I can certainly see a case for placing such discussions on a members only section of the forum but if the club was to go down the route of making the forums `members only' I think the community would lose a considerable part of its membership and the club a considerable asset.

I have watched this forum grow from nothing to what it is now .That growth was only possible because of the huge energy, enthusiasm , comittment and input of non members as well as members .To kick them off the forums now would be a cynical kick in the teeth and I think would backfire on the club.

Peanut,

While I accept the point you make about the importance of non-members on the forum, Scott also made that point and you have missed the main point that Scott has made... that "Colloc" was slagging off the club and our forum is not the place to do that...especially if he or she has not taken time to understand the issue.

Indeed - this particular individual has clearly not taken time to read and understand the issues because they are completely wrong in their conclusion - the thread (and the issue) is a reason to join! The only issue in "Scotland South" is that we have two strong and vibrant threads of activity going on - so much indeed that they are clashing with each other on dates.

We are all very sensible and it will get solved.

Thank you for your response Mark however I didn't miss that point at all.! which is why I agreed with Scott that these discussions should be on a members only board.

This is the part of Scotts post that I rather took exception to:-

[`for Non members to be posting, or worse still, be slagging the club or other members off is unacceptable ']!

[`i would keep the forums for the members, there are plenty of other porsche forums available for people that are not interested in the club ']

I am sure that you will get things resolved as you say but in the mean time whilst these discussions are on an open board for the whole world to see any forum member is perfectly entitled to join in and put their views.

If the issues being discussed here are not clear, then there is naturally a risk that forum members will not see the whole picture and `muddy the waters'
I should have thought that that should be reason enough to either post a clear explanation of the issues or take this thread off the forum or make it accessable to PCGB members only.

Ouch Mr Laurie!!!! I'm off to find another forum.

Andrew

Andrew, this has been an ongoing problem for the last 3 months, just have a read at the Dakota v Riverhouse thread. Maybe if the RO had woke up and smelled the coffee, this problem would have been resolved a long time ago. It is just unfortunate that he has chose to ignore emails, forum postings and invitations to come along to Sherbrooke and Dakota to discuss the situation with the members.
