Donington Historic Festival 30th April 1st May 2011

sorry but my tickets have now gone to mike (A9XXC) who has promised to take some photos so i can see what i've missed [:(]

Hi all If any memebers have bought last minute tickets but do not have passes for the infield parking, if you let me know today I can arrange for passes to be availble at the gate. At the risk of being boring, you MUST be in a Porsche to get into the the track to join us. Cheers Kerry

Hi, I'm a member from Yorkshire Region and have just booked a ticket for Sunday. Is there any chance of arranging an infield parking permit for me on the gate? Ill be coming along in my 993 Many thanks Simon

Hi Simon I have asked for a pass for you to be on the gate on Sunday. Your pass will be at the ticket collection booth at gate 21, available from 7.30am Hopefully it will be there[] Cheers Kerry

Hi Tom and Kerry, I have bought my tickets for saturday and sunday, could i please join either the r8 or r9 group for parking as im now in the west midlands. When purchasing using the porsche club code i was told infield passes would be made available but they didnt tell me which region etc. Any chance of you confirming this with the organisers, many thanks. ps A big thank you to those who offered infield passes but your meeting point is too far off track for me, but i do appreciate the offer. Tom/Kerry, my registration is R983AVU.

Hi There is only R8 parking as this is a regional event that everyone is welcome to join I have requested a pass be on the gate for you on Saturday (it is for 2 days) Your pass will be at the ticket collection booth at gate 21, available from 7.30am on Saturday. The organisers have been very helpful in this matter but I think this will have to be the last I dare ask for See you on Saturday Kerry

You are an absolute star. I wondered why when posting on the 996 forum there has been little response. Well done to R8....look forward to meeting new enthusiasts.

Hi Everyone We have just returned from setting up at Donington and have secured a good spot on the inside of the Redgate’s Corner. Just some advise as how to find us. You will NOT be using gate 9 (the new infield tunnel) as, unless you have a Cayenne and fancy a bit of off roading, this is not an option! You will be directed to gate 20, which is just past the Exhibition centre (beware of high yellow speed bump just before the gate) Through this gate you will be directed through the narrow Esses tunnel and then bear right following the new laid track that eventually runs parallel with the pit straight until on your left is the pedestrian tunnel and signs for pits and Paddocks. Here turn right, go through the trees and then turn left, follow the road up and you will see our white gazebo and parking area on the right. Because of the recent very dry weather and because it was a bit windy today, it is a bit of a dusty journey!! See you tomorrow and Sunday Cheers Tom and Kerry

Hi Kerry, I've witten to you separately. I didn't realise that I needed a separate pass until tonight (I'm R4 member no 58903). Is there anyway that I can gate one at the gate at this late stage? In hope, Mark 997 Carrera Sport with aerokit

Hi Mark I have a spare pass but I'm not sure if I'll be there tomorrow! However I live right by the M1 Junction 21 Leicester and can arrange for it to be here to collect. Text or call me 07811 944 953, I'll be up till 11.00 tonight and from 9.00 ish in the morning.

Many thanks to everyone that arranged this - Tom and Kerry along with Jean 'the tea' and the BBQ Men - sorry I didn't get your names. Great day out and also nice to meet a few of the local members. Ian

Hi Tom, Kerry & Patrick, thanks for all your hard work in organising a great day with loads of drinks and biscuits and a large enough marquee to shelter us from the wind. Good parking area and a fine BBQ to finish off the day. Well done. David.

Hi Everyone Hope you all enjoyed the weekend as much as we did A big thank you to all the members that turned up to help us. Lets do it all again next year[:D] Kerry and Tom

Apart from a biting cold wind, it was a brilliant day out. Yet again we had the biggest turn out for a car club which just goes to prove how enthusiastic Porsche owners are about their cars and racing. Here's a few pics of our pitch and the parade laps [:)]

Unfortunately the only Porsche we saw racing was '73 3.0 RSR (please correct me if I'm wrong) in the qualifying session where he qualified on pole for the group A touring car race. However, for some reason, he didn't appear on the grid when the race started at the end of the day. [&:]

Wow, what a turnout, looks like we missed a treat here! Quite new to the scene so must get better at sussing out which events to attend, have noted this one for next year. Mike & Lisa

Tom & Kerry Just returned home after a fabulous weekend at the Donington Historic Meeting. Thank you so much for all your efforts and the other R8 members in making it a memorable time and for the warm and friendly welcome extended on what was our first PCGB event. We would love to meet up again next year, but keep the success (52 cars..?) quiet as we may need a larger pitch..! Regards and thanks again. Rob and Jean. (R5)

Hi Kerry/Tom - Many thanks for organising the event, my father and I had a great time plus a sun burnt head as well.[:)] Rgds Darren.

Hi Kerry & Tom, As an "interloper" from R4 can I say a huge thank you for making us feel so welcome and looking after us on the day. getting onto the track made my son's day (mine to if I'm honest). Thanks also to everyone that we met on the day, look forward to seeing you all at future events. Many thanks Mark, Alison & Matthew Black Gen II Carrera S with Aerokit
