Hi all, I know there has been some interest in having a drive out, so thought I would test the water with a suggested day and route - setting out from and returning to Market Harborough, approximately 2 and a half hours with some good places to stop for a brew on the way.

Have a look, let me know if you are interested in meeting up and having a convoy....Not suggesting any super fast sprint, a leisurely drive with maybe a few bits of foot down where appropriate!

Hi Andrew,
Myself and Sue could well be interested in this one. The route looks good and does take in one of my favourites between Harborough and Uppingham.
Best wishes,
Mike

It’s a great route, was hoping to say meet at Rockingham Speedway cafe but it doesn’t open weekends unless there’s an event on!
So thats two of us in, anyone else?!

Yes great - thanks for posting this, Drew, much appreciated - looks like it could make a great start to one of many for the future.
Any idea of initial meeting time at Market Harborough?
I hope to be able to make this one myself... about an hour’s drive for me to get to the starting point [;)][8D]

Hi Andy
Sounds good, Put me down for this please. Will watch this space for times etc.
Regards Andy

Hey everyone, just so we don't get confused with names, I'm Drew rather than Andy - no offence to Andy's everywhere!!!

I chose the car park by the Doctors/Leisure centre as it's easy to find and there are petrol stations just down the road in case anyone forgets!! (Sainsbury and Tesco have Super Unleaded)

Start time shall we say 11am?

hi all

be there with my dad (92).

he sits on two cushions in my cayman.

if it rains, can we come in our other car (skoda citigo) instead?

u can overtake us if we're holding u up.

best
ake

Welcome Ake, are your wipers not working in the Cayman [;)]
Seriously, the more the merrier!
See you both on the 3rd!

Hi

Bought her (2014 Cayman GTS) from JZM last July.

Seems to have been raining ever since.

She's in Guards Red and like the Guardsmen outside Buck House she's getting a tad fed up with the constant showers and drizzle.

Not to mention gawping tourists!

See u (weather permitting) 3rd Feb.

Best
Ake

P.S. Ever thought re-Drive-Out to St. Neots. There's a fab B-road u pick up at Rushden takes u up to
Kimbolton on to St. Ns.

Start time shall we say 11am?

Sounds good to me - will give a chance to have a brekky before we drive up.
Drew, does it get a bit busy (traffic) around the start point on a Saturday?

Ake, yes I know that road like the back of my hand, Mark and I have had a blast through that way previously so definitely on the list for future drives!

Paul, yes Market Harborough can be a bit busy but the meeting point is on the outskirts - I will come in through the town to see what traffic is like and if necessary there are a couple of diversions around the town. Shouldn't be too bad though!

Hi Drew,

Put me down provisionally, its about an hour to the start line from where I live. Having never driven around that neck of the woods, will be nice to explore, plus with all the positive comments it sounds like a circuit not to be missed. Take it not many speed camera's?[8|]

Neil

Hi Neil, you're added to the list, not that you can't just turn up anyway!!

Good point about cameras, be aware that Leicestershire Constabulary are quite active with mobile speed cameras and that the route to Melton Mowbray has 50 limits in places and is a well known motorbike route.....

That said, there is just one fixed camera in Melton Mowbray on the route (in a 30 zone), but if you go look at this link http://www.speedorsafety.com/speed-camera-maps/ it shows where mobile units *may* be - this is the Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland Safety Camera Scheme website.

As always, you are in control of your right foot, don't feel like you have to match the person in front's speed, be aware of your surroundings/speed limits and don't forget objects in the mirror may be further away when you drive a Porsche :ROFLMAO:

Sounds like the speed camera scam is still going strong in Leics.

In Northants. they've were turned off some years ago.

The police realised they could make more money by hiding (usually- but not always) in white vans at designated spots.

The fixed speed cameras didn't work for them because they had to be painted high vis yellow - so everyone came to know where they were.

U R now far more likely to cop for a £100 fine and not even see a policeman; let alone a camera van.

This happened to me in my Audi TTS in Thornby nr. Welford. I was clocked on the way to work at 8 a. m. doing 37 in the village.

I'm not convinced I was even doing that speed.

No point complaining or asking for the pictures.

They'll either doctor the photos or perjure themselves in court.

Either way they'll get their pound of flesh and that's what it's all about.

The much vaunted "Casualty Reduction Partnership" is nothing more than another fraudulent means of milking motorists.

The PTB (powers that be) could spend their time chasing criminals, going after bad drivers, getting cyclists off the path, prosecuting councils that don't repair the roads, getting HGVs and their debris and detritus off the road and the freight back on the railways.

That would be a casualty reduction drive of mega proportions rather than the scam they're now on.
