Dyno Day Confirmation

Oh, and I forgot to send out a big thanks to Rick Cannell for his hard work recording the particulars for prosperity.

Cheers,[:D]Thats EVERYTHING it has ( honest guv),i was suprised by the results too, great day out and had a spin finally in a S2 (thanks Paul),ate way too much from the van [:D] Thanks to Rich for organising today(your car is a find and a half !)look looking forward to the next day out already.

Had a great time and was really good to put some faces to names. Even the frustration of my car ending up with 0.9 HP less than Scotts couldn't dampen the day [;)]

Top tip John - Silkolene Pro S 5w40 oil. That extra 10 viscosities makes all the difference. And don't forget the baby seat!

Thats EVERYTHING it has ( honest guv),

Great result for a car still on the factory wastegate - some people like to stretch the definition of 'standard' a little :ROFLMAO:

A good showing from all the S2's as well especially Peter Empsons 'breathed' on Lux

Thanks for a good day Rich [:)] but what's happened with Chris's hairstyle [;)]

I forgot to say, now we just need to wait until Rick posts all the result graphs and the usual post Dyno Day amateur analysis can begin [:D]

My Missus is realy chuffed that she won our little sweepstake and guessed closest to what her car would achieve (maybe now she'll pay to put the petrol in a bit more often :ROFLMAO:)

Excellent day. Well done and thanks Rich - good 8½yrds there.

Mahoosive thanks to Rick for his huge efforts in data capture and in maintaining the UK Power League. Excellent chart. He didn't stop all day and still has a huge amount of work to do to get all the data organised.

Beaky seems to have gone up a place or two but PSH has jumped a good way so well done to him. Seemingly Beaky is running a more conservative boost strategy than I had anticipated so we will be turning the wick up a little now. [8D] Well after I fit a new boost gauge at least.

Great to see so many old and new friends.

how about a sneak preview of some of the numbers then? [:D]

The headlines from what I can remember (I'm sure people will correct me when they look at their graphs)

Highest of the day was the 996TT with X50 upgrade pack at over 460bhp
Fens Audi RS4 hearse with slight tweaking was circa 430bhp
Highest 944 was PSH with the Vitesse MAF equipped 367bhp at 20psi
Johns Beaky was up from 316 last year to just under 330bhp this year at 15psi
MarkK's standard [;)][;)][;)] black beauty was 305bhp
Richy S with his barn find bargain put out a totally standard 245bhp (more to come from the bits in his garage [;)])
Peter Empsons S2 powered superlight Lux with MAF and SPS head was 222bhp
Richard Marsdens S2 with cat delete was 219bhp
Debras standard S2 was 212bhp
The gallant Riley brothers with their 931 from the grave was at 168bhp.

There was quite a lot of discussion regarding the S2 figures this year. Previously most were struggling to break 200bhp, this year all the chipped ones were between 215-220bhp and the standard ones were 209-212bhp, so I take back my previous comment about chips being only worth 1-2bhp peak with an S2 and may have to invest my pennies [:)]

I echo these comments, a very interesting and enjoyable day. Thanks again to Rich for organising, Rick for data logging and Chris for running the show. It was my first rolling road experience, I was suprised at just how much noise the cars made as they screamed towards the red line. A little nerve racking knowing you have a 60 mile return journey to make and no AA membership! However no problems whatsoever and I was left very impressed with the quality of the setup at Weltmeister.

The S2 summary from the day was that the totally standard cars produced within +/- 0.5% of the factory value. An amazing testament to the quality of engineering in these cars, considering they are 17 years old and have 100k+ miles. It seemed a chip was worth about 5 bhp at the top end as was the de-cat. Forgot to ask yesterday if anyone had removed their balance shaft belt. That is said to also be worth about 5 bhp (mine, for the record, does have it fitted).

Bit late to post this I'm afraid, but what a great day!
And I'm not just saying that because I made more power than last time [:D]

A big thank you to Rich for organising it and Rick for being mad enough to spend the day scanning graphs (I suppose the sulky photographer should get a mention too [;)]).
I thought it was great to see such a wide variety of cars running and for me it was one of the most useful as I think it must have been the best turnout of S2's we've ever had, all of which seemed to be producing good numbers.

I have a sneaky feeling I'll be back there before next years event and now have a very useful before figure to work from.
Best regards,
Peter

Ditto to all the above.

I was fairly late to get there, but what a great sight to arrive to. A car park full of 944s all in working order, and some TVRs in various states of dismemberment. From, "gawd that's gorgeous" to "thank God I don't own one"....[]

Burger van was as good as always - I wish he would follow me around - and it was great to see so many enthusiastic people in one place. How many years is this now? Let's hope that Rich organises it again next year!

At least I can buy him that pint then.....[:)]

Evening all !!!,

Echoing previous statements, thanks to Richard for organising the event and Rick for gathering data. Also thanks to Fen and the others for pointing out the huge puddle under my car before I left ! [8|]

Spoke to soon, must be leaking badly now as needed to top it up this morning and its way below minimum now I have driven down to surrey [][].

Was amazing watching Fen's alien car in 4WD mode on the rollers, also won't forget the sound of the 996 turbo wailing away on the rollers.

Excellent find Rich with the 944, keep us posted on the development ! [8D]

Paul was that really 467 for PSH? or was it 367?

Sounds like my car may have got a bit nearer 300 this year - I'll get there soon enough though [;)]

A belated thank you to all concerned for a great time on Saturday. Nice to put some more faces to names. Sorry I couldnt hang around a bit longer, but it felt like my head was going to explode!
To say I am pleased with my figure of 267 BHP (well ok, 266.9 [:D]) is an understatement. Seems an incredible increase when the only modification is the exhaust from RPM (shameless plug, hoping I may get some discount next time my car is in [;)])

Ooops you're right. I'll edit it

Actually I was just testing that anyone reads my drivel :ROFLMAO:

[:D][:D]

I hope to take a trip down there some time in Nov - you can bring LIL along for an alternative 944 RR day [:D]

I know PSH wants to do another run after fitting an EBC (467 bhp isn't enough apparently [;)]). I want to establish an 18psi run for Beaky (327 bhp certainly isn't enough and there must easily be another 25+ bhp lurking there as I have the same turbo as Peter).

I had wondered if Chris would accommodate us on a fettling day where we could do a run, come off and asses the data, while someone else is on, modify and go back on to the rollers to confirm the changes. In effect like a rolling road day just with two or three goes.

If, for example, we had six cars who all did 3 runs that would be comparable with a shoot out day and should be less than £100 each.

I haven't discussed it with Chris yet but is anyone interested in the concept?

This would work particularly well for me as it is difficult to reprogramme my fuelling dynamically. The cells are a bit too big and interpolate too much. It is far better to analyse the results and change a cluster of cells without the engine running.

Probably - midweek is better for me though - weekends start to get very busy towards Christmas

John, that sounds like a really good idea. Depending when it is I may be up for it as I suspect I'll have lots of fine tuning to do.
