It gives us great pleasure to confirm an event for the 2009 calendar.

With the support of Mark and Claire and the co-operation of our host's management team, arrangements have been made for the Boxster Register to gather at the family home of the Duke and Duchess of Rutland.

This informal event is to be held at Belvoir Castle on Sunday 27th September and is set to be 'a day out with a difference'. It is intended to be exclusively for Boxsters, so that everyone will be able to share their knowledge and experiences directly with like minded people who truly understand the meaning of 'top down fun'.

Since first envisaged last August, many ideas and suggestions have been put forward. It is hoped to select the best of these and incorporate them into the event for the benefit of everyone who attends. More of this later.

Apart from the social aspect, there are many other reasons to attend. First and foremost is the Castle itself, situated on a hill with extensive panoramic views. There are three separate gardens to discover in the vast grounds and a guided tour within the castle is highly recommended with many artifacts that could be considered to be national treasures.

To date, we have secured;-
- exclusive access to the estate via a private entrance,
- privilaged and exclusive car parking on hardstanding directly facing the castle,
- two for the price of one admission tickets inclusive of the castle and gardens,
- an option to take up a group guided tour of the castle at no extra cost, and
- several options concerning catering and/or dining arrangements.

Further details will be revealed in due course. In the meantime, pencil the date in your diary and look out for further announcements both on this forum and in the Porsche Post.

There are updates below on the 15/03/2009, 02/06/09 and 28/06/09

Edit - Date added to thread title - Mark

Welcome to the forum Mick- and what a great first post! [:)] There will be more info in the upcoming Porsche Post. Mick and Sue have already put a fantastic amount of effort in to arranging this event, I am truly grateful for the work they have done with Belvoir Castle in organising such an exclusive visit. I'm sure it will be a fantastic event, and everyone should put it their diaries right now.

Have put this event in my diary as I definitely want to attend. Just hope the weather is reasonable! Something that might put a slight dent in attendance is that its the same weekend as [link=http://www.porscheclubmotorsport.co.uk/content/news/news_frontpage_2009_dates.asp]the double-header Porsche Club race at Croft[/link].

Any more already planning on this? There's more info in the upcoming Porsche Post - but that's a month away [:D]

BOXSTERS AT BELVOIR UPDATE. Hi all. As you may have observed, this event has adopted a new title, 'Boxster Day at Belvoir Castle'. Belvoir incidentally, is pronounced 'beaver' and the Castle is situated 9 miles west of Grantham. For information relating to the venue, we recommend you visit [link=http://www.belvoircastle.com]www.belvoircastle.com[/link]. All enquiries concerning the event should be made direct to us at m1ck.dennis@btinternet.com (please note that the figure 1 follows the letter m). Having considered all the various options with 28 weeks to go, it is time to uncover the basics. Opening times are from 11am until 5pm. Adult admission to the Castle and Gardens is Ă‚ÂŁ10. However, we have been offered a special arrangement of two persons for the price of one adult ticket. There are no concessions for children, senior citizens, etc. Assuming that you bring someone with you, that is Ă‚ÂŁ5 each, which is excellent value (compared to the other five venues that we approached) and there will be plenty of things to do for those who don't want to talk cars all day. From the outset, we made it clear to our hosts that we were looking for a suitable venue at which to hold an open air one day gathering for the benefit of fellow Register members, with four primary objectives;- - to gather as many Porsche Boxster owners (and their cars) together for a general 'noggin and natter' with likeminded enthusiasts; - to have a number of technical experts attending, although trade stands were not envisaged; - to provide a static display with the possibility of presenting various awards, and - to possibly include some kind of photoshoot opportunity. Further updates will appear on this forum as well as in the Porsche Post. Further updates posted below on 02.06.09 and 28.06.09

As a new member of the Boxster family I think we'd be up for this - its a nice steady run out for us and it would be great to meet fellow enthusiasts. [:D]

We hope to make it down for this event but need a place to stay over the weekend any suggestions for a nice place nearby? Chris

Depends if you want to be really close, but if you don't mind a drive of about 50 minutes to an hour to the venue then this place is good: [link=http://www.handpickedhotels.co.uk/hotels/Priest-House/]http://www.handpickedhotels.co.uk/hotels/Priest-House/[/link] Lovely spot for a relaxing weekend break if you're after a bit of pampering and good food. ORIGINAL: T200 We hope to make it down for this event but need a place to stay over the weekend any suggestions for a nice place nearby? Chris
What sort of place would you be looking for, there are some very nice hotels in Rutland with a variety of prices etc Most of these would be about 30 mins from Belvoir Castle: Best hotels locally are: [link=http://www.hambletonhall.com/]http://www.hambletonhall.com/[/link] and [link=http://www.georgehotelofstamford.com/]http://www.georgehotelofstamford.com/[/link] [link=http://www.staplefordpark.com/]http://www.staplefordpark.com/[/link] is a top spa establishment according to my wife Another good hotel would be : [link=http://www.barnsdalelodge.co.uk/]http://www.barnsdalelodge.co.uk/[/link] - Region 8 have a lunch there every year (& at the George above) Might be some closer to Belvoir Castle, but I'm not so familiar with that area If you are interested in something different - B&B / Pub / Cottage etc there are lots of those available also Pete

Thank you Pete. You beat me to it. There are some very good suggestions there. Also worth a look are;- Belvoir Vale Cottage B&B ([link=http://www.belvoirvale-cottage.co.uk]www.belvoirvale-cottage.co.uk[/link]), The Old Rectory Guest House B&B ([link=http://www.rutnet.co.uk]www.rutnet.co.uk[/link]), Woodside Farm B&B ([link=http://www.woodsidebandb.co.uk]www.woodsidebandb.co.uk[/link]) and The Vale of Belvoir Inn & Hotel ([link=http://www.activehotels.com]www.activehotels.com[/link]). Most of these recommend local eating houses for dinner on Saturday night. Hope this helps.

Some members may well have been aware that there is going to be a new amateur/clubmans Boxster Racing Championship next year. (Previous posts refer). We can now disclose that negotiations between ourselves and the series organiser have been going on for a few months. It was hoped to have their meeting at the same time as our event which would have included all the relevent parties i.e. organisers, drivers, support crews, sponsors and so on, in attendance. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of the series co-ordinator to change the plans of a few key people involved, this idea has had to be abandoned. However, all is not lost, because the Porscheracing Drivers Association are still prepared to present what we originally requested. At this point in time, it is virtually certain that we will have a 'prototype' fully spec'd car for display at Belvoir. Now, does anyone know the whereabouts of an original 550 to go alongside it?

Did anyone notice? Our last reply received 50 hits in 7 days. So we reckon there are a lot of members out there interested in the development of this event, who have yet to decide whether or not to attend. With 90 days to go, that seems reasonable enough considering the numerous other events that the Club provides. A massive thank you goes to those who have already pledged their support, particularly to Mark and Claire for all their faith in what we are trying to acheive. We said from the outset that this would be 'a day out with a difference' and are certain that you will not be disappointed. So, to coincide with the article in this month's PP, we invite all members who may be considering attending this event, to contact us directly in order to receive all the relevent information, including the various options that you may wish to consider (or decline), in order to enhance your participation. We can be contacted by simply sending an e-mail to m1ck.dennis@btinternet.com (please note that the figure 1 follows the letter m).

Sounds like a great event in the making. Many thanks to the organisers for pulling it together. I will be there!

After all the hard work that has obviously been put in to this event it would be rude not to attend. looking forward to it!
