Event - Boxsters at Belvoir - Sunday 27th September

Good to see someone has injected a bit of humour into this. At least its relieved the tension. The thought of getting the gun carriage team up from Plymouth to demonstrate their annual tricks at the Royal Tournament every year, never entered our heads! We did get confirmation yesterday that the Red Arrows won't be coming though. No surprizes there then. Do I detect a Coup d'Etat coming on, or is Mark volunteering to do the job that I had always dreamed about? Wasn't considering period costume though. Could contact the local Amateur Dramatic Society I suppose. Maybe they would volunteer if we promoted their pantomime. Anyone for dress rehearsals?

Careful or there will be 'Boxster Jousting' complete with an 'RMS in Distress' next !!!

If the Red Arrows can't do it, how about asking [link=http://www.sheepskullenduroriders.com/]The Purple Helmets[/link] to put on a display?

Message for Waynejh. Tried to send an e-mail to you twice. Both returned via your postmaster. If you are still interested, please send a message. Mick

Hello All, Just joined this forum after finding out about this awesome event. Well done to Mick and Sue and everyone involved in organising this event. Got married at Belvoir Castle nearly 3 years ago (anniversary is Oct 1st, 4 days after the event). Bought my Boxster in December 2008 and live 20 mins from Belvoir Castle. Will I be attending? ............. Most definitely. Not been to a meet before and due to not realising that the previous owner treated the car badly I have a lot of restoration work to do so I hope it's okay that the car isn't in the best of condition. With such large numbers will I be able to squeeze in and possibly a mate with his Boxster? Hope to see you all there

Welcome to albinodread. Just sent you an e-mail (before I read this). Thanks for promoting the venue. We agree. And say hello to your wife for us.

We are not hung-up about such things in the club. Not everyone wants to be a concours entrant! It would be great to see you and the car [:)]

Thanks for the warm responses. Mind is totally at ease. Will definitely be attending and cannot wait. If I can just get the Boxster booked in for it's major service and possibly get new suspension fitted (not to mention eradicate a strange rustling noise coming from the air intake) then I will be a lot happier. Any recommendations on any indies in the Nottinghamshire area?

Hi again albinodread, Have you thought about duplicating your plea for indies on your Regional forum? Might get a much better response from members there. Mick

Hi everyone. Latest news in summary. We've heard a rumour. Don't know the source. But be assured, this event is definitely going ahead. As far as we are concerned, it was never in doubt. We have just been granted permission to start arriving from about 09:00. A reminder that nominations for any of the awards should be with us by Thursday please. Like we've already said, don't assume that the person you think may win, will turn up. If you're not in it, you won't win it. We are looking for more volunteers to join the Spot The Difference Display. One car from each year of production is what we are aiming for and given that we're now up to a total of 67 cars, (at least 52 Boxsters and possibly 64) that should be easily achieveable. Places for the Guided Tour of the Castle:- we have 20 joining the 11:30 tour and 19 on the 14:30 tour with 11 undecided. Finally, we have 38 members and guests listed for the Group Lunch. Looking forward to meeting all 106 members and guests, Mick and Sue[:)][:D]

For those of you yet to book your accommodation there is a gem of a B&B just down the road (6 miles from Belvoir): [link=http://www.allingtonmanor.co.uk/]http://www.allingtonmanor.co.uk/[/link]

Who wants to Display their Boxster at Belvoir? So far we have a proposal to display one model from each year. The idea is to have the even years at one end, Porsche Centre Nottingham in the middle (with the 2009/10 models) and the odd years at the other end. So this would be the line up.;- 1998 vacant 2000 vacant (Neil? James?) 2002 vacant (Tony? David?) 2004 Edwina Pike (S) 2006 Sue Dennis (987) 2008 Ian Braide & Shelagh Allen (S RS60 Spyder) 2009 and 10? Porsche Centre Nottingham 2007 Nick Pike (S Limited Ed) 2005 vacant 2003 vacant (Ivor? Chris?) 2001 Mark Bennett & Claire Eason (S) 1999 vacant 1997 vacant (Kumar?) Just drop us a message to confirm. First come, first served. Sorry, I didn't make that clear in the first place.

ORIGINAL: Mark Bennett .....Ahhhh... Claire's just brought me up to date on the 2009 model Mick [:D] I'm always the last to know....[;)]
Now what if someone has a 2010 model (Perhaps this would be pushing it a little as (according to the DVLA) it would still be a 2009). You have got to love the DVLA .... as do I with a 2008 model that according to the DVLA is a 2007 albeit a '57' [&:]) Which reminds me, my good lady's car is a 2004 model but as it was first registered in September of 2005 it has a '55' plate ...... Referee!!!!!

Now that's a good point... It's Sept (nearly Oct!) The "new" ones are out... Of course the Gen 2 cars came out half way through 2009... So it starts to get complicated...[:D]

As THE weekend is almost upon us, I thought I'd ask again if any members from the Cotswolds / Oxfordshire / Warwickshire area are going up to Belvoir and fancied the idea of travelling up in convoy? We're planning on starting off around 8am from near Witney, then via Shipston-on-Stour, Wellesbourne, Warwick, Coventry, M69, Leicester, A46 and the B676. Any interest anyone?

Finally, it's upon us. We made it possible. You are going to make it happen. Sue and I would like to wish everyone an enjoyable day at Belvoir Castle. We are very much looking forward to meeting everyone who has supported this event.

Now to get you in the mood for some top down driving and in true 'Blue Peter', 'here's one I prepared earlier', a short video of 'Tango' (On Tour) in the Blue Ridge mountains, NC, USA at BRBS 2009: [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tT7umpOh4Dw]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tT7umpOh4Dw[/link] See you all Sunday [:D] ps: Please excuse the wind noise from the chase car (Top Down Boxster)
