F1 testing at Silverstone June 3rd

The F1 teams are testing at Silverstone so it's time
for our annual pilgrimage. This is the last
test before the GP itself on July 10th so ALL the
teams 'should' be there. This is FREE entry and
testing is normally 10:00 - 13:00 and then 14:00 -
17:00 so you should see more F1 cars on track than at
the £150 GP itself.

I've put an entry in the Titanic diary for
Friday June 3rd so please enter your name if you
can make it. http://tinyurl.com/3qpnq

We will meet at the Little Chef for bacon butties on
the eastbound carriageway of the A43 at Towcester at
10am, then convoy along to the circuit a few miles
away. The westbound Little Chef has closed down, so
this year we are across the road by the BP Garage and
Travelodge

Last year we had about 15 cars - 944, 964 ,993, 996
and Boxster.

Hope to see you there

Paul, just looknig at the Silverstone site and there are a couple of dates but all are marked provisional - when do they get confirmed?

is it as easy as that??? Just turn up and get in for free???? Any info appreciated.

Wayne

Yes it's as easy as that [:D] I've been going along for the past ten years or so, but started doing it with Porsche mates for the past five. They confirm the dates closer to the time, especially as teh season has only just started, but they have already had one test week and it is still marked provisional (it just happend to coincide with our snow a fortnight ago).

Closer to the time I'll be keeping an eye on the team websites and also Autosport, and they will inform you as to which driver will be there. Sometimes we have come unstuck because Monza or Estoril have a test on the same day,and only half the drivers turn up at Silverstone. Generally though as this is the last test before the GP itself they should all be there. Check Autosport.com on Wed 1st and Thur 2nd June and they will show you the drivers times - so you know who is there that week.

I think i read yesterday that ferrari have upset everybody by buying 4 test days at silverstone around the 25th June. Will this effect the event at all - i must admit i'm a bit out of touch these days.

Wayne

Sounds good Paul, thanks for posting. Hopefully work commitments won't get in the way for me as they have for all recent Porsche-related shenanigans...

Best we get there fast and get the bacon butty before they run out [:D]
A big crowd indeed for the little chef.........

PS. Im now confirmed as going Paul, I took a days leave

Can't go this year as we are on The 944 & PCGB Scotland Tour. But for those of you who are going to miss The 944 & PCGB Scotland Tour the F1 testing is to be recommended. If you have never experience an F1 car at full tilt close up then you don't know what noise and speed is all about.
The F1 testing is a great day but, I'm afraid, will pale into insignifficance compared to The 944 & PCGB Scotland Tour

Some of you may have noticed a degree of subliminal messaging above. [;)]

So, errr ... John ....

Why can't you make it to Silverstone ???

Did you say you were unable to make it because you were going to be somewhere else ????

Perhaps you'll be on the 944 & PCGB Scotland Tour instead ?

[:D][:D][:D]

Perhaps you'll be on [FONT=Trebuchet MS"]the 944 & PCGB Scotland Tour [FONT=verdana,geneva"] instead ?
.

Funny you should mention that Rick. I will indeed be on [FONT=Trebuchet MS"]the 944 & PCGB Scotland Tour [FONT=verdana, geneva"] . It is, without doubt, going to be one of the best Porsche Tours yet. I'm surprised anyone would want to miss out on such an excellent event myself.

Paul have put my name down for silverstone lots of people from my region interested hope there is not limited nos able to attend can you let me no asap thanks

Bev region 24

Ps will be bringing my new 944 carnt wait [;)]

All are welcome Bev, and it's looking like it will be the busiest one I've done so far. Already there are 35 cars in the diary [&:] I can only assume that as Rick and John are safely out of the country that people feel it's now safe to come to a 944 event [;)][:D][;)][:D]

The only limitation is that there are only 20 parking spaces immediately outside the Little Chef, so I think we will have to double park Porsche in front of eachother. Luckily it is situated inside a small services area (Travelodge, BP, Mcdonalds etc) so there will be other parking.

I shall contact Little Chef and make sure they have enough bacon, lard and teabags to cope with our sudden influx.

Excellent i will contact everyone and let them all no ,a few have allready put names down but i am sure there will be more . Should be great fun see you there .

Bev [;)]

Just put myself on the list....Looks like its going to be a corker....

More Porsches than F1 cars......

OK, assuming I'm running my car in by then (please let that be so!) and assuming I can get a day off work at short notice I'll be there.

Very provisional for now but you never know...
