Female Petrol Head Reviews 1989 911 3.2

ORIGINAL: Aldo

With a my online marketing head on I think it is a good piece of viral marketing, good looking petrol head girl and a good looking car will always keep the attention of men (Try to find a man with a pulse under 95 that does not know who Vicki Butler Henderson is) which lets face it are probably 90% of the market for this type of car.

She did great as a presenter (almost as good as a pro) and maybe the errors are just her or whoever put her up to it being smart because anyone who knows car forums would know that twice as many people will comment on your post if you make a mistake as will if you don't and the more comments a thread gets the longer it stays at the top of the list.

Anyway it is more interesting than reading another oil thread,
Well said Aldo - there is a niggling thought in my head that if the film had been made with a male in the driving seat, it wouldn't have received anywhere near the same number of vitriolic comments (Rebecca was under severe attack on another forum - but defended herself well) - NOR would it have received a fraction of the "hits", so I guess it has to be classed as "job done"! I say that the more female Porsche enthusiasts we get, the better - I'm still buzzing from the day my wife actually stated, without any prompting, that my car was "sexy".

Lets have more of this Rebecca - you are a FAR better presenter than Ben (ex-Stig) Collins, who really shouldn't have taken the white suit off! Just make sure the cars are sold first!

Thank you! I think you're right as well.

Yes I was happy watching Jason and Tiff, they don't really need Mr Collins! It was more exciting when he was the Stig with the speculations of who he might be!

Thanks, more reviews will be coming.

I would like to think that any Porsche enthusiast would be welcome here, male or female and regardless of how much knowledgle they have, we all start somewhere. I suspect you have run into a bit of grief in this instance because it did look like a blatant sales attempt from a dealer, but with typos and mis quotes in the film which I guess we don't expect from dealers.

As you say this is all very human and I guess without access to decent editing tools it must be hard work to make the film come out right; hey its hard enough standing up and talking to an audience with it being filmed whilts driving and needing to get it correct.

I think for me I would like to see a bit more detail and information about the car but I suspect these things are never easy.

That Merc SL on your website is very pretty that would like nice in my garage. I notice the handbrake is in a strange location though, if that was a manual (if they made them) it would have make hill starts interesting.

That Pagoda is absolutely stunning!!! That is probably sold, customer coming tomorrow - buying for his wife. It is an auto yes like most mercs but apparently there are one or two manuals knocking around - VERY rare though.

Even IF it was a blatant sales attempt what would be wrong with that? It may be the dream car you've been looking for...OR if you're in a Porsche Owners Club you probably drive one already and if you're looking for another one you probably will look in Car and Classic, Auto trader, Piston Heads etc like most normal people - being enthusiasts you would know where to look.

Yes you're right about editing tools comment but then there's people that criticise and people that "do".

Dealers can't make mistakes? I'm pretty sure the DVLA didn't turn me in to a robot or a superhuman when I got my trade plates!!! ... "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone". You have typos in your post I'm afraid!! We are all human welcome to the club [8D]

Doctoring my wording...hmm! It was not a blatant sale attempt, this section of the forum is far too quiet for it to be even worth bothering posting a sales ad in!!!!

You won't catch me picking anyone up on spelling or grammar as I can't spell and have no idea how grammar works and clearly we have fat fingers in common as well as a love of cars.

The lady having the Pagoda bought for her is one lucky lady.

Seeing as you as you asked... we're a car club which is partly funded by selling advertising to companies that are interested in targeting our membership. I'm not gong to start quoting the forum rules but advertising by businesses is frowned upon as it isn't fair to those businesses that pay to advertise to our very large but very captive audience.

You came on here as an individual (and female petrol head) to show us a video about your car. It quickly became apparent that you are a dealer in the business of selling cars.

I also run my own business, but I'm not allowed to advertise it on here despite being a fully paid-up member. [&:]

Whether the rules are right or wrong is something the club needs to think about. In the meantime, it's unfair to have one rule for some people - and another for everyone else.

It's why I gave you the details of advertising sales for Porsche Post (our club rag) earlier. Good luck with the sale.

Ok that is totally understandable from your point of view. No matter how many times I type it you have to understand my motives have not changed. Yes I buy and sell cars for a living, no I did not come on here to sell the car to you. I actually thought because you guys owned this car you would enjoy watching the video - not buy the car. I posted on this forum when we already had a provisional buyer - hence saying it was not for sale.

Besides, no car dealer in their right mind would waste all this time on a section of the forum with only 4 threads to advertise just one of their cars in their stock list, it's simply counter productive time wise. Plus there's no price or anything in the video.

What I am though is a car enthusiast and female petrol head and sharing my video with you was not a sales ploy but more about having some fun.

No worries Rebecca. Good luck with the sale and do stick around. The club needs more enthusiastic female members to bring the beard ratio down. [;)]

Thank you, luckily I haven't got a beard [:-]

What sort of cars do you sell? Where is your stock list I would like to look if that's not against forum rules...[8|]

I don't sell cars. I'm run a marketing consultancy business. Can't say any more - it would break the rules! [;)]

I agree with people who say leave the poor lass alone (although it's clear she can stick up for herself..well done you for not rolling over!) Fairly subtle selling technique actually to say (careful not to split an infinitive and upset someone) the car isn't for sale.. Posts like that make such a refreshing change from "my name is..and the latest problem with my car is.." of which I am guilty - but maybe that is because I have a 996 (from memory, an American-spec with V8 up front throwing out 1,050 bhp).

I disagree with people who say leave the lass alone. Although I neither know, nor care, whether the engine is straight or gay; whether it's in the front, the rear or in the middle where the people normally sit; or how many horsepowers the brakes have, I do remember reading on the back of a matchbox once that white isn't a colour.. ..maybe it's time to introduce a test for membership?
