Floor Mats

It's a 'Club Sport' steering wheel. Porscheshop have them for £235 plus vat and delivery, reading from my newly arrived catalogue, as I've just got a Linen gaitor
to fit my 're-worked ' ally gear knob.
The two things I was going to change when I bought a 944 were the steering wheel and the rear spoiler. By pure chance and luck one previous owner had done it already, which was nice. The s/wheel is also the dark blue matching the interior.
Pity he/she didn't put tear drops on as well....

er...so why don't you buy them direct from Porsche?
Ah! Good question! The mats listed by Porsche are the same part number as the ones I was origionally sent by Porscheshop (000 043 153 20 4XR) so I'm assuming that they also will not fit. The point about the price differential was to point out that Porscheshop were significantly marking up OE parts.
Seems strange that 944 mats have been superceeded by 968 parts by Porsche despite the fact they are not direct replacments.

How do they differ? The floor is the same shape and the seats mount in the same manner: the only difference that comes to mind would be air conditioning, which isnt unique...?

They differ in 2 main respects (I only tried the drivers side so can't comment on the passenger and rear mats).
1) The RHS fixing on the car is directly ahead of the RHS seat runner, on the 'new' mat it's under the handbrake lever
2) The 'new' mat is about 15mm wider where its meets the transmission tunnel

These guys were recommended to me... Have put some on my Santa list but my wife refuses to buy me car bits. Wouldn't mind too much if she bought me an LCD TV or something similar instead, but she seems to get stuff I don't need or particularly want.

Try Keith Pink at Prestige Parts. He was buying capret in the right colour from Autostyle and making his own last I heard as "they don't care anymore and just want to sell poor quality to the Chav market".

I'm afraid Porscheshop are well known for massive mark-ups on dealer items; marks ups on retail tha tis, not trade. For example a Porsche coffe mug is about & quid from OPC and was 13 I saw in a Porscheshop ad some time back. While it' not unethical (and neither is selling OPC items above list on eBay which some people seem to find offensive) I personally wouldn't touch them as plainly they are more interested in profit than the customer. Presumably they make more than Porsche on dealer items as I can't see them paying retail for the parts, which will therefore cost them less than half their selling price in most cases, and Porsche have to pay to have the thinghs manufactured out of their share.

That is a very common occurance from PorscheShop [] (as is sending the wrong parts for the wrong car [][])

Call Exeter OPC - I spoke to them about mats earlier in the year and they still listed 944 specific mats. If my memory is correct they quoted around the same price as you mention.

Black only from the dealer these days I believe, but by all means give Exeter OPC a ring.

Ive got Porsche mats in both of mine, fit lovely and the fixings hold them so they dont slip forwards,i thought they were the same as 968 mats[8|],Exeter will sort you out if you want them i bet.

I dont know what to suggest, as I fitted a new set of mats bought for a 944 into my 968... (it was a long time ago, but they were a straight fit).

The cabriolet ones are slightly different - I got mine (Blue) from Southbound as recommended above. They aren't genuine Porsche, but the guy made them up from genuine Porsche carpet of the correct colour and they are an exact fit. He's also done the embroidered Porsche logo, and supplied the genuine Porsche fittings for them. I've seen the genuine ones and you can't tell the difference.

I tried almost every OPC in the country before I went to Southbound and nobody has them in unless you'll accept Black, and they aren't made anymore.

Thanks for all the helpful replies. It looks like Southbound will be getting a call just as soon as I've recovered from the forthcoming new clutch bill.

You might want to ask how much first. Less than £20 for eyelets ain't a bargain in my eyes (unless it's £18 less than £20), so I dread to think how much the mats cost. I have nothing against Soutbound, but I have never used them because their prices have always struck me as a tad on the astronomical side.
