For sale for the last time one way or the other!

ORIGINAL: Lemon

Althought I thought the car looked in great condition, had heaps of paperwork with it and I even liked the red interior contrast to the black I did not even take it for a test ride due to bonnet scoop, blacked out windows and rear lights.

Conversely, I love the windows, lights and bonnet scoop but hate the red interior.

It'd be even better if the scoop actually worked. We all know how hot the bonnets of our turbo cars get at the best of times "¦

I quite like the idea of putting something subtle and less offensive in where the holes are.. thats actually a pretty good idea. Thanks.

How about another 4 washer jets to really blast those dead bugs off the windscreen [:D]

You could even fit neon ones to balance up the bling now the scoop has gone :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

ps your all being very harsh on the interior! I thought it was a bit much when I first saw it but actually I've really grown to like it. At least the dash, door cards etc are black! Its only the seats that are red and they look a lot nicer and deeper red in the flesh. I think it actually looks very good with the black body. The cream interiors which is what I actually wanted when I was looking all seem to look cracked and aged now which makes the cars look older, the red seats are bold but they look nearly new aswell.

Regards,

Ben

I like the red seats personaly. There was an article in 911&PW years ago featuring a black Turbo with red seats and I thought it looked superb, I think the owner had bought it back or something and another car (911?) featured in the same article. One of the (exterior) photos of the two cars was used by an insurance company for a while after - that wasn't your car by any chance, Ben?

On the neon subject I saw a car with 5 or 6 blue neons around the exhaust tip last week. Noice!

Interesting. I've not met anyone else with the colour combination and the scoop was added fairly late in the cars life! Could be? I'd love to know if it was.

Regards,

Ben

p.s. might make me want to keep her even more though[:(][:(]

There was one for sale on ebay a while back with that colour combo, I think it was one of the ones I looked at, and even though it was cheap and I saw it in darkness I could see it was a hound.
Have you had any offers yet ?,

Plenty of interest but no one been to see her yet. I think its the sort of car you have to mull over a lot before you buy. I've directed a new chap who is previously a Jap car nut (but has some 928's) to the forum as he saw the add but not being a forum boff had never heard of the 3.2 conversion! Now that would be lucky timing if your just looking for a quick 944 and happen to stumble across the only 3.2 to go on sale![;)]

Regards,

Ben

My 944 Lux had the same colour combo until the previous owner removed the red and popped in a black leather interior instead.

It's the same with all the trash you see on max power, these muppets blow thousands to make a standard car become some halfords hot-rod police magnet, and totally devalue the car at the same time !!

Initially I thought "that's a bit harsh", but then I realised it exactly underlines my point. Max Power isn't interested in "sleepers", so the engine conversion wouldn't put it in that category; it's that scoop again!

I agree, I think the scoop is probably turning away 50 to 75% of potential buyers, not just because its there, but because it discredits the whole car.

How about removing the scoop and then covering the 4 holes with a 1 foot square vinyl graphic made into a black and black chequered flag like the ones on the side of Spic01's bumper. Very, very discrete in this photo and even harder to see in the flesh. At least people may come and see it when the scoop has gone. Maybe Rick could do this?

With the greatest respect and with no malice intended I consider it has no offers as it is simply too expensive for what it is.

As I see it.........................

It has a specialist engine conversion which people not in the know will not want as it will appear to the uninitiated even more of a liability than even a standard Porsche engine if it blows when compared to the value of a car without an engine.

It has red seats which will certainly put off some people and definitely will put off purists looking for an un messed about with car

It has a bonnet scoop without function which will definitely put most people off especially the purists as above.

If one was looking for a car such as this then it has no uprated brakes?? (which it should have for all that extra power)

As above but it is still on its original suspension?? (it should have uprated suspension to keep the wheels (and power) on the road)

There are less specialist or altered cars for half the price

It is a fact that generally you`ll never recoup the costs of devloping a car (see 944 race/track only car adverts) and in todays climate its a buyers market and a knowledgeable potential 944 buyer will note all of the above.

I agree with all you say, but let's also not forget it's very early days, his advert has only been out a week.

Cars like ours take ages to sell unless they are dropped down to giveaway prices, Ben's is so unusual that it will possibly take even longer. Most good cars will eventually sell for close to what the owner wants when they finally find a buyer who turn's up to view it and realises there was a genuine reason it cost a bit more than the £2k ticking timebomb

I hope so too because all that effort is worth something and if I knew a true enthusiast would pay top dollar I`d spend more on mine but there are more modern cars with similar performance dropping in value as I write. (look at Boxster prices for one)

I do understand how one feels in a similar situation but I still contribute on other specialist car forums and have seen really seriously specc`d cars going for not much more than a top condition ordinary one.

I`ve spent loads on my car and I know I will not recoup it all. (dont tell SWMBO)

Or even go the whole hog and get a Trans-Am phoenix plastered over the bonnet [:D].

Sorry, couldn't resist it.[;)].

I really like the flag idea on the bonnet, it's nice and discrete but will set the car apart from others. Alternatively, what about fitting a couple of Naca ducts where the holes are? You can get bare carbon ones quite cheaply which would look good (they may not be that useful admittedly, but they do fit the whole 1980's supercar vibe).

I actually rather like the red interior but would have to remove the tint I'm afraid. Needless to say the wheels are the wrong colour [;)], I can't help thinking white would look stunning on a black car (not that I think that for one second it would help the sale!).
