Fuch Wheels

Fuchs...

have a look at Tech9.ms on ebay

not convinced they retain their character with wider post '87 ABS offset, but have a look for yourself

There may be other sources

pricey too, maybe also consider a set of 17" Cup 2's?

I believe that fuchs themselves are making them. I have seen some on their website for boxsters and 996's

Holy smoke they're pricey! To be expected as they're original i guess.

Think i'll stick with my Cup 1 replicas. Only considering a change as it appears my rears are slightly buckled. Trip to Lepsons to see if anything can be done instead maybe.

Thanks for the replies chaps.

I've been considering at set for my red S2, swayed in no small part by this photo, as said you will be looking at ÂŁ3k+ with tyres

You can buy Fuchs replicas in 7.5 x 17 and 9 x 17 for around ÂŁ800 set! From design911.co.uk I'm saving up!

These are the offsets quoted on Deign911 for a 944S2, don't seem right to me ?

A lot of cheap replica wheels are cheap for a reason, they are inferior materials and buckle easily, they are also cast whereas the genuine Fuchs are forged as per the originals.

17" STYLE 548 FUCHS STYLE ALLOY WHEELS 7.5J AND 9.0J FOR PORSCHE CAR

SET OF 4 Wheels. Front 7.5J ET35 & Rear 9.0J ET16
Replica replacement Fuchs style wheels.
BLACK CENTRE with POLISHED outer rim.

Im going to guess that the front wheel will look quite purposeful, but Id be surprised if the rear will fit.

Its a nominal size. You can really only rely on it being larger than a 245 and smaller than a 265 from the same manufacturer and range. My point was that whilst 255 may well be Porsche suggested size for a 17"x9" rear, it is FAR too wide for any standard 944 and the majority of modified Turbos too.

I agree with you Simon, and the wide wheel fans usually run a heap of neg camber so that any less than 3G corner load situation is effectively a 185 section tyre for traction purposes

Standard is 225 on most 951s (with a 205 front, narrower than most N/A 944s were optioned with) and thats more marketing than necessity. 245 was standard on the 250bhp cars but they were massively over-tyred in my opinion and the effect was exagerrated by the front wheel rim to tyre ratio on the Fuchs wheeled cars (1988 Turbo S & 250bhp 1989MY Turbo).

The Turbo was originally developed and intended to run of 4x 7"x15" wheels you know? The decision to move to staggered 16" wheels was made by the marketing people rather than the engineers.

My Turbo runs on 996 Carrera 2 17" wheels and I intend to replace the excessive rear 255/40/17 tyres with 225/45/17s to match the fronts when the time comes. I will also replace the narrower front wheels with a wider set of 'rears' too. Thatll be an enormous improvement over the current silly and flawed setup...

Quite correct gents, but they don't arf look good especially when the car is dropped slightly, i fitted 17" Scnitzer wheels on my little E46 tourer, it looks the part but drives much nicer on the original 16" with 205's.
Drove a 944 Turbo with 18" speelines looked cool, drove awful !
