Fuch Wheels

They appeared cheaper at jzm. See here

Ran through the compatibility check on eBay (with tech9.ms) for a '91 turbo and they are apparently not compatible.

I'd love a set but can't justify the cost yet. Maybe at the end of next year. Wonder if there would ever be enough interest for a group buy one day?

I also really love the 993 3 piece split rim and the veloce gt1 available here. (see porsche sub section.)

I bought the 3 piece split rims for my S2 almost 9 years ago and they transformed the look of my car. The ride did suffer but not enough to bother me. Unfortunately I let the wheels go with the car. :(

Does anyone remember the link to where wheel weights are listed? I was wondering what the difference in weight is between D90s, Cup 1, Cup 2, and Fuchs wheels.

One really good thing about those new original 17" Fuchs wheels is that they are lighter than all other original 17" Porsche wheels listed on the german webpage. For what it's worth, they are also TÃœV-approved.

7J x 17, ET 55 - 7,4 kg
8J x 17, ET 52 - 7,7 kg
9J x 17, ET 55 - 7,95 kg

I will probably save up for a set of those if I can't find a used set of Cup 2 at a decent price.

As for fitment a german supplier recommends 8" front & 9" rear for late offset cars, fyi.

They are pretty incredible, had a good look at the ones on Mark Sumpters 964 earlier this year and they looked sub zero cool [8D].

Would love a set on my car but mental money really, more for posing or the seriously monied racer. Having said that I have long been of the opinion that race regs should stop people from using anything other than stock wheels or some cheap common part on cost grounds.

I would do the same and run something like R1-Rs on a part road/part track car. I preferred the feel of my car on track with a staggered setup both when I had the fast road car several years back and now with my race car, OTOH I always ran a very stiff back end on the springs so its probably more of suspension setup issue in my case. Its also easier for the enthusiast as you can just bolt on a 968 race car setup onto a late 944 turbo (same size torsion bars) and be pretty confident of having a near perfect setup.

Agreed they aren't exactly cheap, but if you look at what people usually want for a set of used original 17" Cup 1 or 2 wheels in the correct 7.5" & 9" sizes, here you get brand new wheels for let's say "just" a 50% higher outlay. The 944 anorak in me thinks that's not too unreasonable, and if I were into racing I would personally not even look at original wheels but even lighter ones.

I didnt doubt them, but I did double check the weights of the 996C2 wheels that I currently have fitted!

Didn't think for a second that you doubted them, but I just felt like adding that link which was relevant to this thread I think? [;)]

Very interesting info, thx for posting the link TTM

I thought [8|] the recent offset Fuchs wheels were Cast. Do I not recall reading the 997 Sport Classic was fitted with Cast Rims....???

They were not Fuchs on that car they were lookylikes,I think Fuchs would not have been happy about that!?
Their wheels look SO nice I was drooling over Mark Sumpters 964 shod with them.
Race cars are not usually that pretty!!

Folks, let me know if you may be interested in a set. Friend knows an insider at Fuchs and we might get a discount for a group buy...

Companies who treat their Customers with utter contempt are likely to treat their Suppliers with utter contempt?

My regard for Fuchs wheels has been restored, and as used Cup1's and Cup2's become more costly, its good to know 7 & 9x17 Rims with the correct offset @ 7.5kg and 7.95kg are available.........

This went way above my head... Are you refering to some odd dealings with Fuchs or?
