Gold Cup at Oulton Park

Hi Chris/Sue,
we are waiting for Oulton Park to put this up on the website, they have been a bit slow in the past at getting things organised and we are sending them another email to try to get them to hurry up.

Apologies for any delays.

Regards,
Stuart.

Booked my tickets, but I'm slightly confused about the parade laps.

I thought we were doing the parade laps as a thank you to Oulton Park giving us free entry. I don't mind paying the ÂŁ10, just wondering how it will work, will we register and get wristbands for the parade laps? (this is what happened at Easter for the GT race meeting).

We are still in talks about the organisation of this and yes wrist bands have been mentioned as an option but nothing is yet set in stone.
We have another meeting next week which only gives us a month for organisation, so we will be pushing them to finalise the arrangements.

We're in. - Paul and Alison from Region 8 in a Cayman R. Does this mean we get to park together or do I need to write separately to someone else an reserve a space?

Everybody that registers for Porsche Parking will get into the Porsche Parking area.
You'll need to let Phil Graham know, his email address is at the bottom of this page.

Around 250 Porsches already booked into this event and we probably have parking for around 500 with less than 5 weeks to go before the deadline.

I have organised something in the news section of 911 and Porsche World which will come out in early August so if you haven't booked yet you need to do it pretty soon to avoid dissappointment.
And make sure you contact Phil to get into the Porsche parking area as well.

We can now confirm that you can go onto the Oulton Park booking form and book for the parade laps.

If you have already booked the free entry tickets just leave the quantity box for 'Weekend Admission' empty.

There are also bus rides around the circuit that you can book.

Thanks Stuart, just back from Silverstone Classic weekend, enjoyed the 911 parade lap, shame all the different makes of Porsche's wasn't allowed on the track, but did get chance to talk to Derek bell and Mark Porsche at the dinner, hopefully the Gold Cup at Oulton Park will be just as good.

Record display celebrates 50 years of the Porsche 911

We booked the parade laps tickets, had to pay another ÂŁ1.80 for postage, but hopefully we will get both sets of tickets at the same time.

Had problems with your link to the purchasing tickets (Your basket is currently empty), I had to use the link below and click on the link "BOOK NOW" box in RED, then apply the Promotion Code: porsche to see the "Porsche Only Parade Lap on Sunday" ticket option.

I think this happens if you are not logged into the site or haven't yet registered.

Do you have any details of Parade Lap, time of the event, do you need bands or attend any safety meeting etc. ?

aha, yes I was probably already logged in when I copied that link, I've added the proper one to my posting above, thanks.

I expect the parade lap/s will be between 10am and noon as the racing I think starts at noon.
On the day you'll need your parade lap ticket which will be exchanged probably for a wristband and also bring your drivers licence photo card.
It'll have a covering letter in with the tickets telling you about the procedure but no harm in posting it here.

Thanks for the info Stuart, we looking forward to the event, after having a great time at Silverstone, hopefully there will be the same great classic Super Touring BTCC and Historic Road Sports cars on track.

Hi Stuart

Long time no speak, hope all well with you and yours.
(Think I saw you from afar at some event in the last few months but don't remember which)!

THis is just a one-liner to so to say another peripatetic outsider (R18) booked in on weekend admission and registered with Phil.

Likely see you on the weekend some time - hopefully catch up for a chat this time ...[8D]

Hi Graeme,
yes see you there.

They have started to send out the tickets now so anybody else best get booked as soon as possible.

Don't forget to book your place in the parade lap as well if you want to do it, you'll need to bring your driving licence i.d. part on the day.

Hi Graham / Stuart

Tickets arrived a couple of days ago and we will be attending on the Sunday. Do we need to be on site by a specific time?

Thanks

Looking on the Oulton site there is a Timetable PDF that may help, but we haven't been told of any times at the last R5 club meeting.

Timetable and entry lists

Looking at the above time table it states that the Sunday "Porsche 911 50th Anniversary" Parade starts at 10:30, so I assume we got to be there well before then, and checked in to get our wristbands to allow us on the track...

Looking at the timetable I would say that anyone doing the parade lap which is scheduled for 10.30 on Sunday, be there by at least 9 am as they'll want you in the assembly area quite a while before the parade.

Having had discussions last night we would advise for both the parade laps on sunday and the Concours event on Monday, anybody participating in either of those 2 events should be there on site and parked in the Porsche parking area at least by 10am.
So yes you will need to also have been issued with wristbands and allowing a bit of time for that would be advisable.

Thanks Steve,

I agree, we will have to go to the Fogarty Moss Centre to get our wristbands.

Just had an email from MotorSport Vision, it says that "Gate opening times - Public admission to the circuit is from 7am on all days."

But I'm a bit worried now, because I was told that the parade laps were for any Porsche, not just 911's, so I bought a parade ticket myself to take my 986 on the track with Sue, looking at the email it says "A 911 owners' parade will take place at 10:30 on Sunday morning". Does this mean that you got to be driving a 911 ?

Chris.

No, not just 911s, we hope to be doing a parade of 911s first(as it's the anniversary) followed by other models.

After discussions last night we are going to have the registers parked in lines and anybody doing parade laps will be sent to one end of the line and none participants to the other end of the line. So be prepared for this when you arrive.

It just means that those wanting to go on the circut will have an easier route.

we are hoping to do them in chronological order as well, earliest first, but we'll see how that goes, hopefully by parking doing them in registers and everyone co-operates we should be OK.

There will be members of the committee there from 10am on Friday morning marking out the areas, if anybody can help out either on Friday or actually on Sunday or Monday please let Phil know.
