Great fibs to tell new 944 owners

The oil filter was designed to add regular lubrication at every filter change to the o/s ARB bushes, which otherwise would dry out due to the heat from the exhaust.

Timing belts can only be tensioned by a direct descendent of Dr Porsche himself but will snap precisely 4 years and 1 day after they were installed anyway.

Club Sport decals down the sides of the car look cool and almost certainly mean that your car is one of the rare and excusive factory special models.

I thought that was the power steering pump.

9. Owners of 994s are always regarded as the poor relations among the Porsche fraternity.....

That could be a great fib to tell new 994 owners, but this thread is about new 944 owners. Please try and keep it on topic! [;)]

Owning a 944 makes you Dyslexic [8|]!

The sunroof is a dream to pop on and off on sunny days, a robust unit, and so intuitive to release and refit.
Erm, I'd suggest that this one is true ....

This is getting too serious now! [:D]

I love popping the roof out. A bit heavy for one person perhaps, but I think it's a great design. You do need to set the deflector to the right height, though.

That oscillating reverb sound you get at speed takes me back to my Dad's first 944 in 1982, when I was forced in to the rear seat as a lanky 16 year old....happy days [&:]

Compared to what Oli?

In 20 years I only removed it once........Ok to tilt by an inch though
Dunno what to compare it to, but it's much better than the arrangements on VW's of the same era. I take mine out very regularly; in fact, it's taken out for pretty much any journey of more than 20 minutes or so if it's not raining. If you only took it out once in 20 years then you missed out!

Did you shrink? [:D]

Not to worry Ed, I think you'll find that being banned isn't quite as bad as it's cracked up to be (and I should know!) [;)]

Anyway, more great fibs ... here's one: the very balanced weight distribution and huge polar inertia of a 944 make it very hard to spin one and very easy to recover from if the tail does go a bit wayward.

Cant believe nobody mentioned the crowd of attractive young women that gathers every time you park up. Don't you get that?

Well yes, and it gets embarrassing trying to make my way out of a parking lot through a cheering crowd of models with some of them lying half-naked on the bonnet.

I'm beginning to think it might not be the 944 as it happens to me in my 1.1 Clio as well????? [&:]

Well done Paul - that is most certainly a fib. You are getting into the spirit of the thread brilliantly! [:)]

944s are rubbish, you should have bought a Ford... or 911[:D]

Engines only last for 80k miles, after that you are on borrowed time.

Which is why the belts never need changing...

As 924S's are much lighter, more aerodynamic, narrower & even more stable, they go a lot faster than 944's even with stark naked models strewn all over the bonnet[:D]

944 turbos are an economic route to 420 hp, save 1000's over a 996TT, just bolt on a few mods and 2 days later hey presto [:D]
