[:D]too late we've all seen it and copied it and pasted it around all the forums [;)]

I suggest that someone with both organisational and negociating skills has a preliminary word with Bedford about dates, prices, add-ons [food/barbecues} etc.

Now, who would like to volunteer or be volunteered? Of whom can I think with those attributes?

Will any person with the initials MB like to make a first move - or does he knowsomeone who has the necessary inside knowledge which could gain us an advantege/discount? Why not mention the inevitable publicity?

Why, one could even suggest a new world record {strictly for the anoraks} - the greatest number of Boxsters on a circuit in the UK at one time - a motoring magazine is sure to take note if the event is in the late-ish summer.

Just aset of ideas - keep up the contributions.

I think a quick word with Mr Kevlin is in order first, we may be able to sort something out with the club making arrangements in their normal wasy... And then if that is awkward maybe someone with experience of booking trackdays might well be approached for advice - so I'll have a word with Mr Bullen or Mr Long as well...

However perhaps someone else might to step up and volunteer to take this on. I'm aiming to have other events to arrange as well...[8D]

In view of British weather surely we are looking to events later than January; perhaps a Boxster evening at the Ace Cafe for London might be a good start in earlyish 2006 - and we can see what the likley support will be. Then events in the year from about April until the late autumn.

IMO there really should be one BIG event to celebrate the Boxster - in Bedford or wherever. [8D][;)][8D]

Wasn't the debut at the LA motor show in September 1996, surely anything earlier would be premature celebration? Probably no one cares...

What about something in September next year, then? I would like a nice big piece of birthday cake to help me celebrate .

Is this early enough for someone to discuss cost etc. with PGB and a circuit?

Given the number of people who came to the Lotus Factory last year, perhaps we should try somwhere not so big and imposing - how about Marcos? [;)]

That'll be good we can stock up on toilet rolls and Aerial...

oops thought you said Macros!

Great idea! If it was Boxster only, there's a chance I wouldn't keep being overtaken by GT3s all day................

Don't bet on it.

Louises 987 S is Cobalt Blue and my GT3 is Cobalt Blue. Might sneak it in under cover and then use you as a mobile chicane :ROFLMAO:

Mark & fellow Boxster owners -

We normally organise an annual Titanic/GT3 day at Goodwood Motor Racing circuit. Not the best geographically but it is relatively cheap and a beautiful location. Unfortunately due to pressure of work and a building project in 2005 it didn't happen as I couldn't devote enough time to it. However we will hopefully be back at Goodwood in April 2006.

So, what has this got to do with the Boxster event. Well from personal experience we suggest that right now is the time to start planning for 2006 events. If you are looking to book a slot with Bedford you need to make contact with them soon. As Bedford is not MSA approved you also need to check for insurance cover as a lot of insurance companies will only cover track days at MSA circuits. Most circuits have personnel on site who will provide answers to all your questions and answers to some you haven't even thought of.

We invite companies such as Michelin (GT3's favoured track tyres being the Michelin Cup tyre), Parr Motorpsort and JZMachtec and anyone else with a vested interest in our choice of car. You could obviously invite companies with interests or links to the Porsche Boxster.

Our event is run totally independent to PCGB therefore avoiding over complication and outside err involvement!

We have also used a track day organiser to run the event and this is done for a fixed fee to cover paperwork, postage, documentation and everything else that the track owners/users require. This means that the person organising the event also gets to enjoy the day. We take the overall cost and split it between the attendees. Another advantage of organising the event independently is that the general consensus may wish to add things to the event. For example we arranged a "ladies session" so that any ladies who liked the idea of going on track but didn't wish to share the tarmac with the macho brigade could do so in their own way. It worked really well and will no doubt be included automatically in the Titanic/GT3 2006 event.

Go for it.

Thanks Gary [:)]

Useful advice.
So... Is anyone up for helping progress this...?

(Where's the tumbleweed smiley when you need it...)

Gary

You are a man who believes in the 5 'P's; proper planning prevents poor performance. I simply do not have either the time or the expereince of organising such an event; my first attempt is the November Boxster event!!

Hopefully someone will come along and offer to help poor Mark.

I will do my best to help.

Great, we can have another cake for my birthday too... So how about a major celebration in Sept (the circuit seems to be the choice right now) and we can have various mini-celebration throughout the year... It would be good to have something big for the PCGB festival too...

I have just noticed; 32 votes out of over 500 hits!!

Something about apathy seems to spring to mind.[]

Surely we can all do better than this; after all it seems as if the Boxster Register has about 11 months to get itself organised for the big day.

I am sure that the annual PCGB event will celebrate the birthday in some way but, IMO, this Register should have an event of its' own organised.

Does anyone know what, if anything, PGB are doing, publicity or help for us - should this Register liaise with PGB closely?

Let's go for it and I hope that more constructive suggestions will be posted.

Are there any plans for events outside the UK involving Porsche Clubs abroad - i.e. any good ideas which we can consider [imitate, borrow, plagiarise, steal, amend, corrupt etc]?

Could well be, but unfortunately the 500 hits does not represent 500 different users. It only identifies that this thread has been accessed 500 times, probably the same few who voted.

Indeed, everytime you re-read any post on this thread, it is counted as a hit... so if some new person reads through all the post so far, on this thread, it would add up to 40 hits! [8|]
