Happy 10th Birthday to the Boxster

I just voted ..

I have followed the thread since it started and had seen that most people in the discussion were heading to "Yes track" so was using my "not rocking the boat" vote .. ie I was not voting "No Thanks"... There should be a third option which is .."whatever the majority want to do"

For those who are not interested in a track event (if we can do it that is), we are intending to run a couple more celebratory events next year.

Iain Cameron has been working on a Boxster Tour of Scotland, and we may have one or two other events if we can pull them off.

More news as I have it.[:)]

Do you think that there would be any further support for a Boxster track day if the day were to be organised as follows; divided into novices and improvers/experienced track users - with no overtaking for the novices such as myself? And perhaps others with more powerful Porsches could show slower/less experienced drivers the fun and joys of a track day or even let us sit as passengers!!

I know of at least one person [legally qualified] who would be prepared to sit as a passenger in a Turbo, GT2 or GT3 [in the interests of research, of course].

Julian very good idea ... it gets my vote (NOVICE)[;)]

I think most Porsche Club track days are divided into sessions like this - there is no need for a novice to be worried that they would be "monstered" by a more experienced driver.

(Or an experienced driver be shown up by a novice [;)][:D] )

See 'Track event for novices' in the 968 forum area.

I went, as it was local to me, and it was a fantastic introduction to track days.
Don't know how many you need for exclusive use of a track, but 'Boxsters only' would be a great sight. [:D]

I am sure that you are right, but making it quite plain will attract more participants and might mean that less experienced drivers are not put off what should be a fun day.

"'Track event for novices' in the 968 forum area".

That is from where I 'borrowed' the idea. I know nothing about organising such an event and, IMO, the whole experience need not be exclusively for Boxster drivers/owners. A majority would be best coupled with some guidance and advice from experienced drivers of Boxsters and other Porsches.

I exepect that an estimate of numbers and the such like is required before a track [Bedford?] can be approached. Similalry marshalling etc. would have to be organised. Does anyone know enough about this activity to prepare a plan and ask the right questions on this or a similar forum? If so, please take one step forwards and help us out.

Just my initial thoughts, but this anniversary really should not be missed and should be celebrated as best we can.
